Hamidou Diallo gives advice to Jarred Vanderbilt, PJ Washington

Good advice.

But you also need to consider any informed information you receive from teams.

I think they should do what they want to do if they want to do it. Make a decision and stick with it if sticking with it is good for them. Listen to your parents but don't listen to them unless you want to hear them and listen to what they say or said to you about what you ask them about if you can remember what you ask them about the other day month. Do it now or wait until later whatever your ever best is for them and you if you don't.

Based upon how Diallo played this past season and all those still in the draft, it is a head scratcher to me how he is going to fare. I don't see him as being an expert to give anyone advice.

Anyone could have given the advice he gave .
Anyone who already went thru combine. Don't think if you gave the same advice it would have the same affect. Talk about what you experienced vs what you "know".

Diallo had issues finding his role bc he wanted to prove things to people and overthought his game. I don't think the others have that problem.

Words to live by.

He literally said make whatever decision you feel that is best for you .

Anyone could have told him that and how Hami performed this past season shouldn’t mean he couldn’t give this simple advice which is what I was basically responding to

I think PJ and Vanderbilt will last in the league much longer than Diallo. His decision is a head scratcher-not sure what he does that translates to the league. Certainly could reinvent himself and may have to in order to maintain a spot.

Vanderbilt got the best shot every being on nba roster, great athlete rebounder, Washington will be solid journeyman, hamidou better lean how to hit outside shot, or he may not ever make nba roster

I think Diallo is a bit of a head case and I wouldn’t listen to any advice he has to give. If the kid would have listened to Cal and done as he was told his stock might be higher right now.

Our whole team played piss poor at times. Diallo will thrive in NBA. He will make millions. Be a role player, our defensive specialist. Driving lanes are wider and the game is made more for iso in NBA. He has an explosive first step, and has that second bounce only rivaled by Bagley. He will be fine. Appreciate him becoming a Cat. Always will. Knox/Shia should of got us pass KState, but we'll you know. Definately disappointed with both that last game

Diallo came back didn't help his draft stock.
Draft stock? What happened was he proved he’s not worth a first round pick. That’s a good thing for NBA teams that would have pissed away a first round pick on him.

Do you want players to fool teams? I’ve never understood this type of thinking.

Diallo's games after he came back affected his draft stock because they were 100% of his college games. It was a reality correction. PJ and every single other guy we're talking about right now has already had his reality correction.

Cal does if it gets the kid a big pay day. That's why he advises kids to go at the height of there PERCEIVED value.

Look at MKG and James Young, both were over-valued. Did they "fool teams"?

Hami will be G league for life. PJ will be same, Vandy has a shot but his offense stinks like swamp booty.
Why is Gabriel still in the draft?!?
It's beyond frustrating that these young men are like looking so desperate rather than come back. Nobody should go except Knox, and SGA. I really think they should of came back based only on getting better, I can't complain if they throw money at them hey, I'd go. But on a pure basketball stand point, nobody should leave.
We were not good last year at all because we couldn't shoot, and we were young.

Our D was sporadic. But being young it's expected.
Knox, and SGA are getting million dollar deals, good luck young men!
Hami on down are not getting anything guaranteed. Nothing. Hami on down there is no common sense. UNLESS, a team promised them something but I HIGHLY HIGHLY DOUBT IT with 236 players declaring NOT COUNTING SENOIRS.
I'm gonna say No Way.

Unless the NBA starts awarding points in a game for jumping high, Dialog will probably not make a living in the NBA. Feel sorry for some of these kids that are getting really bad advice and are caught up in this "basketball machine". A college degree would be a real benefit 5 years from now when he matures and gets sick of speaking Croatian when he wants to order food for carry out.

What’s important is actually improving what teams say you need to improve. If PJ comes back and shoots 35% from three and 70% from the line he probably gets drafted pretty high

Don't see PJ getting a lot of 3 point shots at UK next year. FTs yeah. But his NBA hopes have nothing to do with FTs. This is all so boring. Wake me when it's over.

Diallo came back didn't help his draft stock.

Because he was exposed as not being a good basketball player.

The game goes beyond being able to run and jump.

Diallo shouldn't be giving advice to anyone, but I'm sure he was asked about it and answered the question.

Doesn’t matter how many he shoots he has to show he can make them consistently. Or at least knock down some face up jumpers

Why do you think he’s a “head case?”
He came to college early and refused to play. Then after not playing he enters NBA draft. He then returns to college to get better, yet when Cal tries to teach him he doesn’t listen and mouths off to Cal constantly. The kid has issues.

Didn't read. But think it's kind of funny that a guy who spent his entire college experience looking for a way to skip said experience, would have much worthwhile to offer to any prospective draftee about their decision. I know none of you believe this, but the college game will be stronger when these kids are again allowed to go straight to the pros from high school. The ones who make stupid decisions will fail, they won't have lifetime scholarships to fall back on and you will see the improved results in both the college and pro game. .

Pretty much everyone who's ever actually been around Diallo talks about what a "great kid" he is. Him not living up to our lofty expectations for him on the basketball court and you throwing out a bunch of accusations about him with next to zero evidence to back it up doesn't mean he has "issues".

And if you really think that Diallo "refused to play" the first season he was here and it wasn't 100% Cal's decision to try and protect him (And that season's team, I'm sure) because he wasn't ready to play, then I don't think you've paid much attention to the way Cal thinks over the last 9 years.

You're right. We would of been so much better off if players like Davis and Wall would of just skipped college and went straight to the NBA like they could and would have done given the option. College basketball will be much more entertaining once the most elite and exciting players are able to skip it all together. [eyeroll]

I'm sure it'll have it's benefits. It might eliminate some of the bad apples, though they'll always be sleazy agents and handlers taking advantage of kids and paying people under the table. It'll be less of a headache for some fan bases, sure, but I'm not sure taking away ::some:: of the game's most talented and most hyped incoming stars will make it "stronger". Players good enough to be one and dones will still go if they want to, 5-Star or not.
