It was a beautiful “Spain” like wrinkle after some Zoom action. Oklahoma tried to triple switch it but got lost on the back door slip. Someone on our staff (or Pope himself) saw something and took advantage of it.

I’m always a little envious of those of you who can see the little things like that when watching games. I once sat with some coaches at a football game and it was absolutely fascinating listening to them dissect the play before, during and after it happened.

Do opposing teams normally do this on a shot during the corner? Last night was the first time I've ever noticed it, Oklahoma has a player swing a towel to distract Perry and 2 other players stand up and nearly come on the court yelling at him. It's one thing to yell from the bench but they nearly bumped him.

I hope Garrison stays. I get that it's easy to get down on him, but I think there is a lot of upside/promise to him. And frankly; showing him the door is antithetical to the new culture (I hope) of UK basketball.

Absolutely this.

However, as a new dad, I will understand him leaving if he feels that he can get a significantly higher NIL package somewhere else. I hope that doesn't happen, obviously, but if it does, I'll *get* it.

Yes

- Hopefully for Garrison it doesn’t come down to who pays the most. I can’t put myself in his shoes but I’d guess he has a right to think he’ll be an NBA prospect so money will be there when he makes that jump. Meanwhile if he can make some really good coin at one of the top schools and have a shot at a title I’d hope that has its impact too.

- Can’t say enough about Oweh last night. The thought going into the season was we didn’t have that takeover go to kind of guy instead having multiple good players so who knew which guys show up on a nightly basis.

I can’t remember a player doing that since Monk in Vegas against UNC.

- The SEC is old AF man.

Broome/CBM/Cardwell/Kelly/Jones,
Ziegler/Gainey/Lanier/Milicic, Sears/Nelson/Youngblood,
Clayton/Richard,
Wade Taylor/Carter/Washington/Wilcher,
Bates/Grill/Gray/Perkins
Butler/Robinson/Williams/Carr

That’s a ton of experienced seniors that won’t be back next season. This league will look so different and it’s crazy to think about the shift in college back to JRs and SRs.

- I don’t want to get too deep into the idea that I think we match up well with Auburn, but I absolutely think we have the pieces to get the W against them.

It’s weird because I don’t want to knock the clear #1 team in the nation but Oweh on CBM, Butler on Pettiford, Williams on Broome and I’m taking the Cats at home with a crowd ready to explode and show these kids what Rupp is on the biggest of stages.

- Bourbon Bros 2025 Edition. Awesome.

- Authentic King Cake legit from Nawlins. Delicious (can never eat the inauthentic swill again).

- Boat’s $500 bottle of wine. Best I’ve ever had (granted, I’m no wine).

- Huber’s horse racing dice game. Addicting.
No mention of Huber's 13th Colony Doubly Oaked that melted everybody's faces off? I figured that was the sure bourbon winner. Or maybe you're just a Malort kind of guy.

1,000 pardons. Definitely the winner in the bourbon category.

EDIT: Truth be told, it actually did cross my mind to throw it in with the other randoms… but I couldn’t remember the name. 😂

My Dearest Sirs Garrison and Oweh,

I write to you this day burdened by the weight of my own intemperate spirit. In the heat of contest, when the tide of battle seemed uncertain and my heart, alas, was seized by a most premature vexation, I allowed my passions to outpace my reason. I was overtaken by a red mist of frustration, and in my folly, I yielded to anger most unbecoming.

Yet, as the contest wore on, you, noble and steadfast, did see it through to a most triumphant end. Your fortitude, your unyielding resolve, and the sheer excellence of your performance stand as a testament to your character and ability. I was wrong to have doubted, wrong to have let ire cloud my judgment, and for this transgression, I extend my sincerest and humblest apologies.

Would that I could take back my outburst and replace it with the admiration and respect you so rightfully deserve, I would do so without hesitation. But as I cannot rewrite the past, I instead beseech you to accept these words as a token of my deep regret and my renewed pledge to trust in your valor henceforth.

Yours in repentance and respect,

_Chase_

-Game had a big time Texas feel. We were clearly a better team, but they had a couple guys going nuts keeping them in it, while we were shooting ourselves in the foot. Handful of balls bouncing our way this time.

*Everything felt super clunky. I'm sure that's due to the reserves being more comfortable than Butler and Robinson. On top of the dumbass officiating creating foul trouble.
*Oweh. Lol. All timer there. That last layup is infuriating. Dude missed 5 bunnies in the 1st that would have probably put the game away early. We get out to a 15 - 20 pt lead and my guess is they go through the motions.
*Fears is a baller. Super shifty and creative.
*Robinson  Did they address if he reinjured or just wasn't ready?
*About lost it when it looked like Williams was injured on that BS offensive foul. Thought we had pretty much stopped rewarding flops. Some Duke level bullshit there.
*We kind of go against the rule where, not having a specific go to guy is a problem. We have 5 that can go off on any given night.

-No more 9p Tues/Wed games. THANK YOU BABY JC. Rolling around well after midnight last night. Sleep score was dogshit.

How we match up with their bigs will be interesting. In situations before where the other team's best player is a 4 (like with Flagg), Pope hasn't put Amari on them much if at all. Partly I'd say to keep him out of foul trouble. You will probably see a lot of BG on him though and he will probably be the first big off of the bench based on the matchup and last night.

-What a stone cold killer performance last night by Oweh. Carried the team in the last ten mins.

-I love Garrison's orneriness, but he was one extra second on the clock away from getting T'd up. Still can't believe Shows didn't do it.

-I find myself really starting to hate college basketball because of SEC refs. They bring nothing good to the table at all anymore. Maybe never did for UK fans. Too many stupid fouls, weird fouls, monitor reviews. Way too much involvement in the game.

- Perfect example, 6'9 Carr goes in for a contested layup and shoots an air ball. 5 seconds later a touch foul on UK. Trash!!!!

- You watch Big 10 and Big East games and you just don't see the same calls as you do in the SEC. Something gotta change.

- I think we take care of business Saturday against Auburn. With or without Robinson.

- Ready for baseball season to begin. Redsox in playoffs this season. Reds as well? You Reds fans have a manager this year.

- Horrible news about Gene Hackman. That guy was one of the first actors I ever noticed. Just great in everything.

I've ranted on this before, but it pisses me off that the SEC BB dynamic is the complete opposite of the SEC FB dynamic.

In FB, the SEC protects the handful of dominant teams, because it wants them in the playoff, and the spots are very few and highly contested.

In BB, the SEC protects the underdogs, because it wants to maximize the number of league teams to get bids to the wide-open, crapshoot NCAAT, mediocrity be damned.

How many times did we have to see the graphic of OU's NCAAT chances going into last night's game, and with a W, or with an L? Commissioner Greg Sanktimonious sitting there courtside in Norman, you think he wasn't aware of that?

As others have said, I'm surprised the refs let them play the couple of minutes, thank goodness.

I'm not looking for the SEC to protect UK, just give us a level playing field and competent refs who don't play to the home crowd, dammit.

That's rich, w/ the decades of Rupp home cooking that has been better than anything you get at Grandpa's kitchen. You cower behind the chair when you hit post on this nugget? Hilarious.

Cower? Dude, I'd stomp your 5'9" greasy, cheesy ass with one foot.

Figuratively, of course.

Please try me, no need to buy me a beer.

Was it confirmed that they were reviewing Garrison at the end? It was well after time expired. You could see Garrison decide to talk shit after the buzzer sounded. The OU player grabbing Brea’s jersey was right as time was expiring though.

I think we all collectively reverse jinxed Oweh early in the 2nd. Dude was trash up to that point. Not sure I’ve seen a reversal that hard.

Dude was 95, married to a gal considerably younger, had a wonderful career, last however many years spent it just not GAF in whatever town just being on the guys, and died in his sleep. Yeah, that’s horrible.

Unless I missed something like a wild bear attack
