Still waiting on Perry’s incredible shooting….

I get the feeling at Lyon County he was a ball dominate guy and relied on volume shooting in High School.

The adjustment to being more efficient and not so ball dominate to get going hasn’t clicked yet.

Still think he’ll get it going and be clutch for us at some point in this season.

The lineup substitutions threw off the Cats defense and allowed Colgate to have confidence in their high paste offense.
100%. Got a little to full of ourselves during Pope interviewing bench players and they caught some kind of fire.

Shooting woes are becoming a concern. We have to break out of the slump.

After as many times as I've seen us lose this type of game, before league play starts in the last several years, it's hard for me to be upset.

We're a well coached team, but to think that not have a starting, or even the backup point guard available isn't going to seriously impact how we play (on both ends) is ridiculous. Perry is what he is, but what he isn't (and I don't think will EVER be here) is a quality PG. Don't get me wrong; I love having Kentucky kids on the roster, and I think that is important, but ya have to be realistic about what they are. I think Noah, by the time those two leave, will have the bigger impact.

I got as frustrated with Krissa as anyone else on here, but it leaves a big hole, even assuming that Butler comes back, and can play 30 plus minutes a game.

Of all the issues, coming into this season, that I thought MIGHT be a problem, depth at any position wasn't one of them.

It's probably not rational, but it sure seems like the freak injury bug just loves to bite UK.

* I guess point guards are important. I think we can beat Louisville without Lamont Butler, but I'd rather not try.

College basketball is a guards league and you just cannot have enough talent and experience there. Jaxson Robinson would be a terrible starting point guard if we had to rely on that. But there will be a moment in crunch time when the ball is in Jaxson's hands because of foul trouble, injuries, or we are just trying to pick on a weak defender and we will be glad he's an oldhead who been forced by necessity to distribute the rock when everything else was going wrong.

* Perry looked bad. Whatever. Any expectations for him contributing before his junior year are silly, imo. At current, he's too small to defend at this level, doesn't have the playmaking skills to be a point guard, and he's too short to consistently get his shot off against SEC caliber athletes.

If we get senior Dominique Hawkins-level production from junior Travis Perry, I'll be tickled pink. I think that is a reasonable expectation.

* I'm more worried about Colin Chandler. He should be the beneficiary of two guards being out, even if he's not a point guard. I know he's got conditioning issues from the mission, etc. but we should be gearing up for him to start taking minutes from Brea and even Oweh -- not seeing Noah steal his minutes.

Oh well. The great thing about having a bunch of good players is that we don't have to coddle freshmen with a pedigree like we used to.

* There are a lot of men in their 40s and 50s wearing red eyeglass frames who look like absolute cheesedicks. I hope no one tells them. The guys who wear those tend to be super-annoying and I like easily spotting them.

* Probably not the time of the year to ask this, but does anyone have a good recommendation for a grill probe thermometer? My Thermapen Smoke broke and it lowkey sucked any way. I'm hoping the technology for wireless probes has gotten good enough in the last couple of years to make it viable for purchase at a reasonable price.

* Send that second half tape to SEC ref headquarters as a how-to not make the game about the guys in stripes.

You love to see it.

Weird game last night. That team in the first eight mins or so looked like they had never shot a basketball before, then couldn’t f’ing miss.

Jax 2-11 from 3pt 6-25 for the game. 🥶

I still think we handle UL by 15+
