Not going to wish a kid bad just because he didn't choose to play at UK. I just hope he does recover from his injury and all is OK for his future and his dream of playing in the NBA. It will be fun to see him playing in college but I still can't stand Duke so here's to a good year to him with his team "flopping" in the tournament.

Capel is not k (I know youre not saying he is), but he isn't anywhere close. K has made relationships far more important than his coaching/recruiting abilities.
Capel was 161/92 as a head coach 64%. His best season at Oklahoma was mired by two recruiting violations that led to his firing.

Good point. But couldn't Capel recruit better at Duke merely because of the brand name? I know its pure speculation -- but Matt Jones was asked on his radio show how much longer both K and Cal had -- and he said 5 years for both. That to me was shocking.
Most of all, good luck to Giles on rehabbing those knees.

Talked with some people in coaching that told me about Giled before it was announced, and they also said Coach K would be recruit the next class and be done. Said Capel was most likely source to be next coach at Duke from what he was told. Has a couple of kids being recruited by Duke, and goes back 30+ years with Coach K.
I don't keep up on recruiting as much as a lot of you people do, but I have an honest question. Does anyone really have a good idea where we truly stand with Monk? Including national recruiting gurus?
You look at the Arkansas boards, and they talk about how he grew up a Razorback fan, how many visits he has taken and continues to take to their campus, his brother going there, and so on.
Many here seem to think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Fox and Monk are both a part of this upcoming class. Just wondered if someone has heard/seen any concrete info to conclude he becomes a Cat, other than of course we know that would be the best business decision for him.
(I do know the package deal rumor with Fox is out there.)

Could not post it before it came out since it would have violated the trust of the person who told me. We also discussed Coach Smith and Oak Hill, and the challenge for Giles now that he is not playing - their campus in Mouth of Wilson has nothing within 30-40 miles with no cell service for 20 miles in. I know because I have been there with Oak Hill and their program.
Coach who provided the info could be wrong, Coach K could change his mind... but he volunteered the info to me. That is why Capel is leading recruiting, K is done with USA team... Thanks for playing.
his first knee injury was left acl, mcl, and meniscus. This new injury is partial torn acl on the right knee. His knees are shot imo

This has been done since the beginning. I honestly have no idea why Cal wasted so much time on this one, but I'm sure there's a reason.

The part I don't think you know anything about is coach k doing one more recruiting cycle then being done. He's finished with USA as the coach but he will still be very much involved in the years to come and he has stated he wouldn't do USA without doing Duke therefore based on his on word he'll be around at least 5 more seasons since he's coaching one and he'll be in his new position at least till the 2020 olympics. Also he stated in April he doesn't think about retiring he knows it's closer then it was but that still don't make it right here.Does this mean I won't get a like from you?

I'm very curious to see how he responds to another ACL tear. Not sure how better he will be than Allen next year after this lastest injury.

I dont know either. Maybe Giles gave him the feeling he was seriously considering UK. Who knows. Never once felt Giles would come to UK. As always, I trust Cal without question in recruiting.
