Giles announcing at Oak Hill (Virginia) and not in North Carolina

The only thing that announcement indicates to me is that he is not going to Wake Forest. He is wise to not announce in Winston if he is shunning his hometown school. I don't think you can read anything else into it at this point.

Sounds like giles tore his acl

Wow, that's insane. I feel for the kid. Hoping for a full recovery.

I posted this on the other thread as well, but per Matt Jones, his surgery is going to be at Duke's hospital.

Not a good sign for UK, but sounds like he was always going to Duke anyway. Hope he recovers fully.

Sad that this kid will have to announce under these circumstances, but hopefully it works out OK. Obviously Duke at this point, but that is a great choice if not UK.

"Slice in time", "Wrong on purpose", or "Saving the program"?

Wrong on purpose actually happened. I personally watched (as did hundreds more) as Marc set the bait and jones took it hook, line, and sinker. I know people like laughing about it, but if anyone cares about the truth, it happened.

go to duke. get a degree from duke and be set for life. two blown out knees....might want to prep yourself for something other than basketball. if your dream of being a pro works out...fantastic.

Haha. I will not speak on the ethics of that guy but I totally remember that.

What really sucks is in addition to that monster class they are probably getting, they are unlikely to lose much off this year's team (Plumlee who has rarely played, Jefferson who is a good player but not as good as what they will have replacing him, and probably Ingram). The last one is the only one that is significant.

Past tears of MCL and ACL in Left Knee and now a partial tear of the right ACL. Tough breaks for a talented kid.

I agree. Duke in 2017 will be scary.

The kid may never play college ball. He may just be smarter to rehab and sit out next season and enter the draft. Another injury could cost millions. As is, once he gets a clean bill of health, he can still go upper end of lottery.

This tells me he's going to Duke. If he weren't the visit by Allen would not be needed. The fact that Allen is visiting tells me that Giles won't be here.

Here's to hoping people start relaying that message to him.

We might be better off if we don't get him. He is a great player, but who knows if he will even fully recover from the injury. As someone else mentioned, he might be better served to sit out next year and plan for getting and staying healthy for the draft. Time to go all in on whichever other big man Coach Cal wants.

I'm not sure I'd prefer Giles over Allen after this latest injury. He may not be ready by next season and if he is, we don't know if he'll be as good as he was. I can't imagine two major knee injuries not hampering his explosiveness and athleticism. I do hope he recovers and plays in the NBA, but I just don't see him as the same prospect as before.

Stop.
