This is a trend on the college basketball Reddit too. A few times a year someone says something like "Why does the ESPN BPI give unranked Rutgers a 70% chance of beating #1 Purdue? Purdue is going to win this game by a lot" or "Why is Kansas only favored by 1 point? It'll be a blowout." and without fail the underdog always wins.
