Frosh Kennard Made 6 of Duke's 11 Three-Pointers in Their Exhibition

You would have to consider the competition he did that against. Livingstone, a school I have never heard of.

Duke USUALLY has 1 or 2 deadeye three point shooters - but if you shut them down you have a shot.

Congrats to the kid for hitting 54% of his threes. UK hit 55% Monday night as a team! Duke, as a team, shot 39%

And, we didn't exactly shut down the outside shooting on that one kid from Ottawa that was lighting us up.

To take a one game evaluation against a girls team and suggest that is how a top level team will play against us (or us as well) is a poor gamble.

That will definitely win some basketball games though we do have to consider the competition.

Of course. All we have to compare, though, are the two exhibition games and I'm not sure how Livingstone compares to Ottawa as a team. UK78 made a good point about us not shutting down that kid who hit threes. Then again that could be the Rupp Curse, LOL

I do want to see how we shoot against stiffer competition.

Didn't realize how thin dook is at pg...big stud Thornton didn't start and two sgs running the backcourt.

Outside of Obi and Jefferson, they're a weak bunch. Put Ingram, Kennard, and Thornton into boiling water and they'll turn into spaghetti.

Kentucky could play livingstone and not do anywhere near as good as Duke did against them but its only because at UK it is 5 on 5 and Duke gets the extra 3 man insurance protection coverage

Thornton didn't get here till start of fall sem so he had zero time to practice with the team all summer like the rest did. Also we played the defending D2 champs our first exhibition and he did awesome. I expect him to be up and down for a few weeks until he gets in the swing of things. I won't be surprised if Grayson and Luke start and both play a lot of pg while he's learning.

Who's making the argument that Kennard is better than Murray?
Yeah, I don't get it. Mention Duke around here and the insecurities of a lot of posters just go bonkers. Seriously, how can someone be a UK, yet be insecure about the team the root for?

Not to mention, I don't get this thread either. Okay, so Kennard made six three pointers in an exhibition? Big deal, why should UK fans care, and what's the point of starting a thread on the UK board about it?

Bet a Duke fan didn't start a thread about Murray's performance on a Duke board.

Kennard is the real deal. I would have loved for him to be a Cat - thought he was definitely leaning that way. I wouldn't trade recruiting classes at all with Duke - but that kid can play. Murray and Company can more than handle the Dukies this year though...

Rolled his ankle pretty bad at the beginning of the game. May have to sit out for a couple weeks. Matt Jones had a groin injury and didn't play either.

That blew by me. How in the world does having a groin injury stop Matt Jones from sitting at a desk and either announcing or broadcasting?

Kennard is better than Allen and Jones in every aspect of the game. And will play multiple years. I will have an irrational hatred though for a kid that grows up a UK fan and shuns us for Duke.

We are going to score some points against Duke if they are playing Kennard and Allen a lot....... I dont see how they can guard Ulis, Murray or even Briscoe.

They'll each grab a charge a night.. at minimum. You better be ready to watch just as much of a flop fest as last year.

I like Kennard, but the amount of love is hilarious. Below average ncaa athlete, and a typical Duke white recruit. Good player, but the media will go crazy over him because he's at duke.

If Jefferson doesn't play against us, I think our chances get a lot better. He's nothing special, but he's a solid, veteran inside player that can rebound and get a few garbage baskets. Plus, that's 5 less fouls they have.

As for Kenard, if we had gotten him, I doubt we would have landed Murray, so I am happy with how it played out.

Of course Kennard is going to be a good player. I'm not sure Cal wanted him as much as some of you did though, it seemed like Newman was who he thought we were going to get and recruited harder. I could be wrong but that's how it seemed to me.

Kennard will be a very good college player and probably be at Duke for three years, if not all 4. I don't have the same love that many UK fans on here seem to have for the kid. I wouldn't trade Murray for Kennard. Yeah, we get Kennard for more years, but i'll take my chance with Murray's one year at Kentucky and a shot at winning a title over a kid staying a few years and not. The kid can shoot. I'll never understand how a "lifelong Kentucky fan" could ever go play basketball at Duke. Don't get me wrong. If you're going to Duke as a student, i have no problem with that. If you're playing basketball at Duke and have to play against Kentucky, no way! Cal probably wasn't too upset when the kid went elsewhere.

I have never said that he wasn't a great player. He played about 40 miles up the road from where I live.

Kennard is a lights out shooter, does matter who they're playing. The kid can shoot. We will need to clamp down on him next week. Would've loved to seen him in a UK jersey. Just saying...
