Freddie Maggard returning to KSR to cover football

To level up from UK Blogger to actually working for UK to then...go back to blogging about UK...?

Guess if Beisner leaves UK basketball and goes back to hosting a local access TV show then Maggard bouncing around wouldn’t seem so unusual.

I missed him covering football. It’s great to have him back
This is welcomed news. Somebody over there who actually knows what they're talking when it comes to FB besides Nick Roush. I've really missed Freddie's insight and ridiculously detailed pre-game scouting reports.

Now, if they can find a replacement for the lady who hosts "Countdown to Kickoff", I'll be even happier. I'm sure she's a fine individual, but she is just awful to listen to.

He got the job at UK due to his work at KSR
He had a medical issue, forced to leave position at UK
UK filled the empty position
Medical issue resolved, now seeking new employment.

Not really. He wasn't fired from UK and by all accounts I've heard was doing a good job. Freddie left for his own reasons. Typically that means either health or family reasons. It's possible that the job demanded a schedule that he couldn't do.

Either way having Freddie back is a huge win for KSR. I'll probably start listening to the football podcast again.

Does Nick Roush actually know what he's talking about in relation to football?
Yeah he does. Roush is decent and getting better. Give him 10 more years of covering football and he might be one of the best in the area. He was another really good hire by KSR and one of the few that can manage a purely content driven show without the knuckle head antics. Roush's biggest weakness right now is just that he's young. Experience will fix that though.

Sadly, comparatively speaking, you may be correct. But that's also kind of like talking about the tallest dwarf.

I was listening to pregame a couple of weeks ago when he was on and a caller congratulated him for overcoming his addiction. Whatever that meant. Seems like a great dude that knows a ton.

Seriously.....come on man. I was listening too. He WORKS at an addiction center helping other people get over theirs in Danville is what he said.

Where do you people come up with this stuff? Honestly.

The return of the Panther. I've missed his analysis. Will be bitter sweet hearing Freddie without Jared since they played off one another so well together but this is welcome news.

Roush is awesome does a great job - love Freddie also but you don't quit your dream job without some heavy stuff going on. Wish him the best

Looking forward to the football podcasts. Give me some Roush, McGinnis, and Maggard. Those with Lorenzon were the dream team.

Freddie is ok, but he's all jabber and never listened on the podcast. I hope he has learned not to talk over top of others. Also, someone would make a point, and then he would just start rattling off stats on another topic and interrupt any flow.

I had no idea Nick had so many relatives on here.

I kid. I don't care for the guy, but whatever. It's America, folks can like who they want to like.
Having had lots of interaction with Nick at road games, he is a very nice young man. He is always amazed how we show up for road games no matter where they are.

Reading between the lines it does look like it was an addiction issue. I posted months ago that was my suspicion. Was the only thing that made sense.

Either way congrats to him on overcoming. Huge accomplishment

Once, I was having a hard time paying the rent. Nick Roush showed up and gave me 5 grand to get back on my feet.

I also heard that once, he noticed a stranded car. It was raining very hard. Turns out, it was an elderly woman that had a flat tire and was choking on a French fry. Thinking quickly, Nick took out his trusty stockman pocket knife and performed a tracheotomy. He next changed her tire, and escorted her home.

Awesome guy.

NOTE: Everyone loves Roush. We'll throw him a party, and have a parade.

Never meant to de-rail the thread. In truth, his testicles may cure cancer.

That said, let's get back to the topic of the thread: Freddie Maggard.

Nick is a good guy :)
