I am not sure how much recruits check the message boards - but we need to be sure to give this guy gets the love he deserves. I think he is fundamental to our recruiting class. Cal has proven what he can do with point guards and a good PG is critical to Cal's system. Fox is by far the best in the 2016 class.

I could see all 3 of our guards - Murray, Ulis and Briscoe - going pro after this year - maybe one stays, which would be great - but we need Fox, in my opinion, more than any other recruit. The athleticism of next years class with Fox, SKJ and Gabriel would be phenomenal. Add in a couple more pieces from the Monk, Giles, Allen, Bolden, Rawle mix and truly could be one of the best classes in Cal's era - which is saying a LOT.

Seems like he has a lot of class as well - I will cheer for him, wherever he ends up after what he did on his in home recruiting visit, but really hope he commits soon. This is simply a "WE WANT YOU FOX" thread.

Fox has been done for UK day Cats offered. I am a friend of board/non UK fan and have shared info about him previously--nothing has changed other then now fans like me saying this compared to taking shots when it appeared Kobi Simmons was "their guy". lol

Don't take that as a shot either--just saying, sometimes an outside fan doesn't try to stir things up--just wanting to talk basketball/share info passed along. Same friend who told me about Fox said Monk to UK as well.

As much as I'd love Fox and Monk to UK (and I think both will come to UK), I'm genuinely curious as to why Simmons pushed his decision back to the spring.

I think Cal asked him to wait and let the scholarships work themselves out. I think Simmons really wants to be at UK.

Simmons has other issues at hand. He/his people are exaggerating Arizona interest--and they tried same stunt with asking a well respected reporter to "add Duke to offer list" when this guy knew Duke had zero interest in Kobi. Let's put it this way--if it was about UK guard recruits choosing elsewhere--I'd say why wait? He'd pull trigger if allowed. I think it's more to see what happens. Now a scenario that I'll check on--did Arkansas convince Monk to delay his decision--a lot say early decision favors Hogs (Bossi for one) but I disagree. Think a delay to Spring helps them sell things to Monk: be it new staff, being savior, etc....

I wonder if Cal's visit to fox was to confirm making commitment public this week to help with any last ditch effort towards Giles.

I think it could really go both ways, hard to read Monk because of his recruitment being so tight-lipped, but if he does announce early on (before Fox), I'm thinking it may be Arkansas. If he announces in the early signing period (when Fox will announce), but announces after Fox, I'd think it favors UK.
If he's waiting it out, it's hard to tell. Could just be a difficult decision for him, which is likely the case.

Fox and Giles? Yes.
But Giles himself said he has a really good idea on where Fox and Monk are both gonna go, but he's not going to say it to anybody because he wants them to have their moment.

Yeah as long as you aren't a small forward Cal has an amazing track record with success at the other 4 positions. Here's to hoping MKG heals up and comes on strong and Gabriel next year helps Cal have success with all 5 positions!!!

No. We didn't intend to sign as many guards as we did in this class. We gain Monk and Fox after Ulis, Murray, and Briscoe move onto the NBA. Wenyen Gabriel was recruited as a SF, so he'll play the 3 (where we have a guard playing this year).
Killeya-Jones will sign on as a 4.
 
Coach Cal visited Fox two weeks ago or last week and now he visit Giles and Monk. I bet Coach Cal is selling those three playing together and be one of his greatest recruiting class.

Darius Miller was a three and probably doesn't get drafted if not for his development under Cal. You can't throw MKG out either. Not many schools out there have had a small forward drafted top 5.

Obviously Cal has not put as many superstar 3's in the league yet, but there really haven't been a ton of elite threes to pick from. The only All-Star level small forward picked top 10 the last five or six years was Paul George in 2010. I think Harrison Barnes would have been a better college player under Cal had he come to UK, but I don't know if he will ever become an elite NBA player.

If Cal somehow roped in Fox, Monk, and Simmons, while managing to return Matthews, I'd be about as excited about a guard/wing rotation as I ever have been. Lots of length and athleticism, and defensive potential to rival some of Cal's best perimeter units.

Plus, the transition game would be among the best in the country.

I agree with you....it says more about how great Cal has been at the other 4 positions. Here is a list I put together during the Bridges recruitment. Here are all the NBA guys from UK under Cal and their corresponding positions. (Players who logged any regular season minutes in the NBA)

PG: John Wall, Brandon Knight, Marquis Teague, Eric Bledsoe
SG: Doron Lamb, Archie Goodwin, James Young, Aaron Harrison (preseason minutes only so far), Devin Booker, Deandre Liggins,
SF: Darius Miller, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
PF: Patrick Patterson, Terrance Jones, Julius Randle, Karl Anthony Towns, Trey Lyles
C: Demarcus Cousins, Daniel Orton, Josh Harrellson, Enes Kanter, Anthony Davis, Nerlens Noel, Willie Cauley Stein

Cal is THE BEST big man coach in the country. He gets all the pub for Point Guards but he is the best big man coach in college and it isn't close.

Fox is the most important recruit in our class. When we land Fox, other kids in the class will be ready to sign on and get recruiting over with. These kids ain't dumb. They all know to be a great team, you have to have a great leader. Fox is considered the best pg in the class and Every recruit knows this. When you have a talent like this signed on, all the other kids will be ready to sign on. Fox is a key piece imo to landing Monk. A great SG wants to play with the best pg so the game will come easier to him. I can't wait till this kid signs on.
 
question, what's the story with Fox at the moment?

I thought he would have committed by now.

Can you imagine Harry playing alongside Gabriel? That would rival the athleticism of the Davis/Jones frontline.

Throw in a fringe transcendent point guard like Fox. Wow.

To respond to the question I was asked--just talked with my friend and he said that nothing has changed--still hearing Monk joins Fox to UK. Also the way he stated it implied early signing period, so have to text him and see if that is so, but as of today he said word is Fox/Monk are UK bound.

Read from another person that I consider reliable that Monk announcing in the early period bodes very well for UK, so I hope your friend is right. Appreciate the info!
