Fox announcing decision Thursday

Fox and Monk will be at Kentucky or 1 will be at Kentucky the other at Arkansas.

People are in for a rude awakening with regard to Allen and Thornton. Thornton will be good but I don't see him as a first rounder. Allen, oh Allen. The one hit wonder. Duke had no bench last year so the minutes were there all year and he still had games in the ACC tournament where he couldn't get in. Then Wisky makes him look like a frickin all American and now he is hyped to leave after this year.
I think he is a 4 year player.
this is spot on !

If Coach K can coach a team to a National Championship with an 8 man rotation of: Scheyer, Singler, Smith, Thomas, Zoubek, Plumlee, Plumlee, and Dawkins. I think he has a good chance at winning one with his nasty roster next year. He is the best coach in the country. I hate how much he is put on a pedestal for "all that is right with college sports" when he berates officials more than almost any other coach and swears enough to make a sailor blush. But he is the best. UK and Duke both are going to be on a whole different level than everybody else in 2016 with the possible exception of Michigan State. But when Fox signs on Thursday it serves notice....

Did you post a message like this when he was losing to Lehigh, Mercer, or getting ravaged by the likes of Louisville and Arizona in the NCAA Tournament? Did you know K has advanced to the Elite Eight exactly three times since 2004? That's three Elite Eights appearances in eleven years. Cal, by contrast, has been to eight Elite Eights in the last ten years with no losses before the Sweet Sixteen and an NIT. Would you say Cal is inferior to K in that portion of time? The argument is as ill-fated and random as a successful Sam Dekker step-back three.

In the four years that K hasn't won it all since 2010, his teams have been bested by two horrible double-digit seeds in the early rounds, or been victimized by the tune of 22 points to Louisville in 2013 and 16 points to Arizona in 2011.

In fact, do you know what he was up to between 2004 and 2009? He was getting his tournament ass kicked, with a 23 point loss to 'Nova in 2009; a 2nd round bounce in 2008; a first round loss to VCU in 2007; a Sweet Sixteen loss to LSU in 2006; and a double-digit beat down in the Sweet Sixteen at the hands of the Spartans in 2005.

K is the best coach because of his massive success over a long body of work, but let's not act like he's unblemished, because he's not. At least four of his title teams have been the beneficiaries of massive-level tournament breaks - Laettner's miracle shot in 1992; Maryland's meltdown/ref help in 2001; the easy path to the title in 2010; and UK's choke job coupled with an easy path to the title game last season. Yes, they finished the job in 2010 and 2015, but winning one game against one elite team is a great deal different than having to go through two elite teams just to make it to the finals.

He also got bounced in the first weekend with Parker and Rivers...

People don't remember VCU, Mercer, Lehigh, or the massacres at the hands of 'Nova, Louisville, or Arizona. All they hear is "2 titles in 6 years and Harry Giles/Jayson Tatum" and anoint K infallible, despite their own claims to the contrary when they were literally laughing at K as Mercer was hanging a 13 point late second-half lead on Jabari Parker, Rodney Hood, and various other assortments of former five star recruits.

K can coach and he's one of the two best coaches ever. There's no denying that. But he's not perfect, and he went through about a decade of failure with the college basketball world openly wondering if he'd lost his mojo. I guess everyone looks infallible coming off a national championship.

Yes I remember VCU, Mercer, Lehigh, Louisville, and Arizona I watched them all live. There is no debate that K experienced a serious downturn in tournament success. But do you realize there are only 3 current coaches in college basketball with more than 1 championship? Roy Williams with 2, Pitino with 2 and K with 5. Winning the whole thing is an extremely exclusive club and K has shown an unparalleled ability in current college basketball to win the whole thing. I also believe in the concept of program momentum and the two programs currently trending most up are Duke and UK. It just so happens though that the last two times Duke has gotten to the Final 4 they have won the entire thing and the last two times UK was there we came up short. I am aware that K has been to the Final Four loads of times without winning the title but right now he has some serious tournament mojo going for him so I'm going to choose to show him and his program some respect. With clearly one of the two most talented rosters in 2016 I think he will be dangerous.

So... I take it this thread is no longer about Fox? How was Duke even brought into the conversation? Wtf does Duke even have to do with Fox? And why are so many on this board obsessed with Duke?

It seems these days every other thread gets hijacked with Duke b.s. It's insufferable, really. Can't even click on a damn thread to read about Fox, without being subjected to this nonsense.

Giles might be risky given his ACL injuries. But who knows. All I know for sure is, IN CAL WE TRUST!!! Other than the 2011 debacle, (which will never happen again) UK will be the at the Top in recruiting....De'Aron Fox, come on down. You will be the next great PG at the University of Kentucky!!

Fair enough.

People started writing about recruiting classes on the first page.

Then someone posted about how K's shite doesn't stink, which was the Iran Contra moment you're looking for.

From there, it was like the Boyz in the Hood alleyway scene - bullets flying, Ricky running for cover, Dough Boy and his posse roaring up in their convertible looking for vengeance.

And somewhere near, Laurence Fishburne was crying. Crying for us all...

I know everyone is pretty positive about Fox committing to UK but I'm going to be watching and still hoping he hasn't any last second change of heart so I'll still be a bit nervous until I actually hear/see him select UK.

this is me - never counting on anything until I hear for sure. It's better for my sanity

From what I've read here out of you who follow the recruiting more closely than I Fox is pretty much critical to UK's class this year. I'm sure hope those of you saying it's a done deal, etc. are right, but I'm reluctant as always to believe it until I hear it from him. At least it won't be long now before we know.

Kansas fans say they'll be fine without Fox and this will help them with their 2017 class.

Speaking of recruiting, what is it with our guys and ESPN? I've always noticed that our guys seem to be lower on their lists than the others and this year is no different. SKJ, Gabriel and assuming we get Fox, are all lower on ESPN's list than they are on Rivals or Scout. Bizarre how this is always the case.

The only thing that would give me the slightest bit of doubt about Fox is the Self/Kansas factor. Despite their poor tournament showings and on-the-court performances against UK during the Calipari Era, they have done surprisingly well against us head-to-head for recruits, especially when it's a recruit that seems like a perfect fit for Cal's style of play the way Fox does.

That being said, I still believe that it's Kentucky all the way for Fox and would be very bewildered if it's not (of course, I was bewildered by most of the decisions made by top players in the '15 recruiting class, but I write them off as just being an odd bunch).

Some of the past KU wins over UK in recruiting were addressed by the Nike Bahamas Trip. Don't kid yourself--the coaches in Nike Stable made enough remarks to make sure their top guys were kept in the family. Fox has KU listed out of respect and fact KU has recruited him a long time. They were at open gyms last year, etc.....but he's wanted the UK offer--got it, hit it off, and has been done for some time.

Question is--will Monk decide in Fall--which I've heard is still up in air. I contacted the friend of mine who has provided the info and he said that's not decided yet--but hearing it's more likely he'd do so in Fall as of last week. So we'll see how it plays out. Like I've said before--I'm just relaying info and don't claim to be any insider other then seeing kids play at events and relaying personal takes--but the recruiting info comes from a friend who is more dialed in and works in industry.

Thanks Ralph. Always apprecite the info. Please keep us updated on Monk.

I think it's a done deal and he's coming to UK, but in recruiting, you just never know. I won't feel good about Fox until it's offical and he verbals to Kentucky. This kid is very important and will help us land Monk imo. When you're the best shooting guard in the class, why wouldn't you want to play with the best pure poiint guard in the class? Fox is going to be a fun one to watch. Lefty point guards that can pull up and pop it from mid range are the most fun guys to watch.

That's not true! Austin Rivers and Avery Bradley were just flat out better than Anthony Davis and John Wall.

How would you classify Bledsoe on their list...?

Mariana Trench low?

I would enjoy some positive reinforcement that Fox is going to sign with U.K. tomorrow.

Could some of you provide some emotional support to one of the old codgers on this board ? ! ?

Go 'Cats ! ! !

The reason you're not hearing the usual "buzz" is because this one is so sewn up that no one is paying a ton of attention. Fox is a Cat, has known he was going to be a Cat, and will officially become a Cat tomorrow. No need to worry or wait and see on this one, according to every expert in the business.

I suppose he could choose elsewhere tomorrow. But he could also wake up and decide he never wants to play basketball again. It appears those are the kind of odds we're dealing with.

So, you're saying there's a chance?
