Fox announcing decision Thursday

wait didn't you all hear that Duke is the 1st team ever to sign the #1 and #2 players in the same class ever? Who cares if we get Fox we should not play the season next year just mail Duke the title. Never mind the fact the #1 player has blown his ACL twice before age 19 and that UK will probably have more objective talent than Duke heading into the 2016 season.

And never mind the fact that it's EMBARRASSING that Anthony Davis and MKG weren't ranked 1 and 2 in their class, so the fact that (according to ESPN) Duke is the first to do it, it's actually just embarrassing for ESPN

The bottom line is that if UK gets Monk and Fox, they will probably have more of an impact in one year of college than the big kids for Duke. Duke will have some nice guards coming back, but nothing like Fox and Monk.

Good to hear. Just wish we could hurry up and get Monk on board too, it'd be nice to go through the season with most of our pieces in place for next year.
Jones said that he heard some things about Monk possibly deciding in the fall, so Monk being on board sooner rather than later might actually be a possibility if what Jones heard is true.

I know everyone is pretty positive about Fox committing to UK but I'm going to be watching and still hoping he hasn't any last second change of heart so I'll still be a bit nervous until I actually hear/see him select UK.

I'm as a big a UK homer as there is but objectively Duke will probably have the 2nd best backcourt in the country after UK next year. Derryck Thorton was the 3rd best PG recruit this year after Murray and Briscoe. He isn't a great athlete and is expected to be at Duke two years also Kennard has been lighting it up in Duke's exhibitions much like Murray has been for us. Duke is going to have really good guards next year as they also add a very good Frank Jackson for depth. Fox and Monk likely will be better but Duke is going to have really good guards as well. So "nothing like Fox and Monk" is a little strong.

one thing this board has taught me is that it's never done till it's done.

Thornton and Allen are gone if they have any chance of being drafted. Frank Jackson is legit. So is a sophomore Kennard. Then you've still got Matt Jones, who would be a senior. If Tatum and Giles play the 3 and 4, and K goes with Jeter or Obi at the 5, how does he play five legit guards for two positions without a transfer or some dissention? UK pulled it off with four guards for two spots. Imagine if they had one more guy vying for minutes in the backcourt last season. Chances are, someone would have left the program. That's what Duke would be facing in your scenario, and historically K's not immune to transfers. He doesn't like to play many guys, and I doubt very much that he'd entertain the idea of a platoon next year - not when he has two of the top 5 picks on his roster.

I think at least one of either Allen or Thornton bolt after this year. Jackson's not coming to Duke to play 10 minutes/game. Neither is Kennard.

I'm thinking Monk may decide to wait until the spring just to see what Briscoe does. It's not a given that Briscoe is one and done, but almost everyone would agree that Ulis and Murray are gone. Would be a little harder to have all of Fox, Briscoe, and Monk because none of the 3 are really big enough to play the SF spot.
TMonk could prob play SF if Murray can this year. Murray can't be more than an inch taller than Monk and not as athletic.

Duke will have strong guards who will be good college players, maybe fringe NBA players. Monk and Fox would be lottery picks and maybe both top 5 picks. I guess it depends on how you look at that difference.

ESPN is a station full of clowns..They dont know shit.. Fox will be a cat, I bet my car on it.

I'm sure that both would prefer being the #1 and #2 NBA Draft picks.......that however will our two guys.

Fox is the best player in the 2016 class, he is like a mix of Knight and Wall. He will be wearing Kentucky blue, can't wait for it to be official on Thursday.

I think Cal could make Fox into the #1 pick in the draft, especially with the injury concerns of Harry Giles.

It's really hard to predict anything this far in advance but assuming that Bolden goes somewhere else I think it's most likely that Allen declares after this year Thorton stays for another year and Giles plays most of his minutes at Center. Both Obi and Vrank may transfer. Then you have Jackson as the primary back up for both Thorton and Kennard getting 25 minutes a game. Matt Jones at the SF because he can defend SF's and Kennard certainly cannot and Tatum at the PF with Jeter the primary backup at PF and C getting 25 minutes.

People are in for a rude awakening with regard to Allen and Thornton. Thornton will be good but I don't see him as a first rounder. Allen, oh Allen. The one hit wonder. Duke had no bench last year so the minutes were there all year and he still had games in the ACC tournament where he couldn't get in. Then Wisky makes him look like a frickin all American and now he is hyped to leave after this year.
I think he is a 4 year player.

Doesn't really matter, Cal wants to switch screens so they will all guard different positions.

He wants everyone to be able to guard every position.

Or even more egregious - Wall and Cousins. You could argue 1 or 2 guys above MKG, but with our duo from '10, we had both of the two big, scary monsters in the class.

Everyone is hyping duke hard for that season, I admit they will be good with tatum, Giles and other returnees and freshman...but I feel if UK gets monk, Fox and Allen to round out the class, with our returning talent, I think UK will be better, more athletic, better backcourt and a frontline that I feel will at least rival there's with Matthews, Gabriel, Humphreys, skj, lee?? And allen??...

I pointed it out over the summer. Go look at him box scores. Dude had more games where he failed to have more than 1 point, rebound or assist than he had games where he scored in double figures. He's so overrated it isn't even funny. If duke is counting on Allen to provide anything at all this year then we'll slaughter them by 25 next week.

he's more like Wall than you think. Last year his 3 point% was 29. If he and Monk commit to us. Look for a Wall/Bledsoe type of backcourt.
