First game thoughts

Ok, I'll bite.

First, the whole team needs to adjust to playing against a more physical team. We don't like getting hit, yet. Right now, I'd rather play Duke than Arkansas. Rat Face coaches pansies. Ark will knock your teeth out. Lot of teams will be collecting teeth against us right now.

We need to learn the value of the basketball. You gotta act like somebody paid your girl to entertain a Louisville basketball recruit and fight!

Then we need to work on the following:

Defense

Defense

Defense

Defense

Defense

Defense

Defense

See a pattern? We have the speed needed to turn teams over a lot. Murray knows how to turn a turnover into gold. I saw some flashes of this. Need more.

We played a better team than most name schools did in their first game,we didn't play our "A" game(and barely our "B" game if that)

I don't want to compare this year to last year but from the standpoint of where the teams are/were (in terms what they are vs what they could be) this team is way behind last year(due it part to the Dominican trip)

One game doesn't tell us much,I did like the ball movement,I think we have more weapons than last year(but we could have games where we shoot a bunch of blanks)

There will be times the team will have us worried. It may fall out of the top ten or so. I doubt it is a 1 seed. But the pieces are there --especially the great guards but also Skal -- for a deep NCAA run if it all comes together as I think it easily could.
One thing I've not seen mentioned is, right now at least, I don't see any great teams to worry about. ESPN started its BPI ranking (the best ranking to my thinking) in 2012, and last year had 2 of the 3 best teams of that 4 year span. UK '15 first, UK '12 second and Wisconsin '15 third. Duke '15 also ranks pretty high. It seems like I read something crazy, like 6 of the top 15 teams over that 4 year period were 2015 teams. Point is, in that regard, last year's UK team had a little bit of poor luck. I think this year may be more like 2013, when there weren't any great teams.......

Willis had a great 1st half. It was by far his best half of basketball as a Kentucky player. Willis got nothing done in the 2nd half. You could tell that he fatigued. He lost his shooting touch, stopped rebounding, and started getting sloppy. But it was an interesting night for him. His length really bothered Albany at both ends. When he gets used to playing 20-25 minutes a game, he can be a weapon for us.
Disagree he got "nothing done in the 2nd half" because he played solid defense the entire game. He disrupted Albany on the press and in the half court....probably got a little tentative on the offensive end in the 2nd half. He will be a force to be reckoned with in terms of PT on this squad.
