There is no scenario where an usher would even request that someone sit simply because they are standing and cheering and another fan wants them to sit down. No, such a scenario as you describe is not what is being discussed.

I went to the swamp for the LSU vs UF game this year. It was an amazing atmosphere, extremely loud and the fans didn't take a single play off. What surprised me was that the fans sat most of the time. The fans would stand after a huge play, but that was it. It was nice to see the action and not have stand. One could argue that fans could clap and cheer just as vigorously while seated, and everyone could see the action.
That's right I said it.
And yet we do not have the “dullest atmosphere in all of college sports,” particularly for big time matchups when Rupp is arguably the best in all of college basketball. Now, I fully realize there will be a segment of individuals in this thread who have the opinion that Rupp is always dull, mainly because they seem to believe unless 23,000 are standing and screaming their heads off for 40 minutes while UK destroys Popcorn State, then then the Rupp crowd is dull.I comprehend your point, but I think insinuating it’s a matter of respect is a matter of miscategorization. If everyone in attendance had this same attitude, we’d have the dullest atmosphere in all of college sports. You want an environment where everyone looks behind them and is gentle to not upset you. The only person that benefits is you at the behest of our team and fanbae.
I mean… you can have your opinion, but this does occur. I have witnessed it in the rare occasions some individuals are just rude and inconsiderate of their fellow fans. Ushers have been asked to address it, and they do. Again, don’t alter scenarios. We’re not talking about standing and cheering for a great play or run when most to the crowd will be up and cheering. We’re talking about standing and obstructing the view of others just for the sake of standing. There is no scenario where an usher would even request that someone sit simply because they are standing and cheering and another fan wants them to sit down.
I do believe Mark Cuban just reposted a picture of your son on a major social media app.I had my 7 year old som stand in the aisle to
see at the Zaga game. Adults standing up can be a problem for kids.

All I know is if you attend any given game, you will see there are probably 22,980 fans in the arena who are clearly sensible about how they conduct themselves, and they have a great time doing so… and then there are occasionally a small handful of individuals scattered amongst the crowd who seem to conduct themselves otherwise. Even among that small segment, the vast majority of them, when asked politely to not unnecessarily block the view of others, are reasonable and adjust accordingly. It’s really only a tiny few who want to interfere with the experience of others just for the sake of being contrary.
*I realize Rupp is no longer 23,000 capacity, but my point remains*
This ^ times a million. I’m over 60 and I’m fortunate I still do most everything I’ve always done. The jerk who said that is an ass.Believe it or not, you’re gonna be 60 someday you little shit.

Maybe they should have heights when they sell tickets. Shorter fans get the closer seats and it gets progressively taller heading up.I just hope my 6'7" 300 pound ass is standing in front of one of you.
You do know there are non-rich lazy people, too.
Exactly. We stand for appropriate times like stated by a poster above. However, we had a guy stand even during timeouts when other things were happening such as the half court $10,000 shot and other times when nothing much was going on during the game. Maybe it was even this radio call in guy. If we stood to see over him then we would be blocking the view of others behind us and that's just not right. As I said, I stand quite often during the appropriate times but just to stand because you feel you have the right to since you paid for your seat (stated reason by guy in front of us) during any part of the game or timeouts just because you want to is just plain dumb, in my book. The radio guy probably didn't explain why he was standing and why others felt it was wrong. Some of you all just "assume" it's because of age of others. Sorry, wrong take, there are rude people out there who don't give a damn about others.I’ve lost count how many times this ridiculously stupid topic gets beaten to death on this forum.
Good grief people. It’s common courtesy to be mindful of people around you and not willfully block the view of others. If the intended expectation were for everyone to stand the whole game, THERE WOULDN’T BE ANY SEATS in the arena. This is not a difficult concept.
Your last sentence is the issue I have with the way you're attempting to represent the way things work at Rupp.I mean… you can have your opinion, but this does occur. I have witnessed it in the rare occasions some individuals are just rude and inconsiderate of their fellow fans. Ushers have been asked to address it, and they do. Again, don’t alter scenarios. Sometimes I like to come to games wearing a kilt, then stand on my head
KSR is the first to tell you the crowd atmosphere at Rupp is very bad except for big games.I'd tell them to stand up if they want to see or leave. Rich, lazy people ruin Rupps atmosphere
If they stood, I would stand- IMO, it's almost expected at those type of events- we have been to enough sporting events and concerts that we know there is a chance you will be standing up the whole time & I am 63Ok… since you brought up a music concert analogy, what would you do if you went to said music concert and another attendee willfully spent the whole time doing something to prevent you from being able to hear the music well?
Well… my question to you really had nothing to do specifically with standing in that scenario. So it seems the point of the analogy was missed. If they stood, I would stand- IMO, it's almost expected at those type of events- we have been to enough sporting events and concerts that we know there is a chance you will be standing up the whole time & I am 63
"He'll slice everything from now on. He'll never get around on anything". - Carl Spackler.I shanked the last mfer who wouldn’t sit down. Cut his hamstring clean through. He doesn’t come to the games anymore. Watch out, Rupp.
I would think not many 7 yr olds go to games but that’s nice that you didI had my 7 year old som stand in the aisle to

It’s just like society. The oligarchs (blue hairs who have lots of money to buy the close seats) control the peasants underneath them (The people sitting behind them.). So if a person in the front row stands up theoretically everybody behind them all the way to the top row would have to stand up to be able to see.I stand some in games, on exciting plays, after a player who has played well leaves game, when the crowd, during a intense moment on occasion. I agree with fellow who says standing is easier for me for the same reasons. I don't however out of politeness. That said I came to the game to see it and if people in front of me stand up I am too. To those behind me, they have 2 choices sit and bitch about missing game action, or get up.
I wish I would be 60 someday. But aging back backwards isn’t an option for me.Now that’s funny, I like it.
Well… my question to you really had nothing to do specifically with standing in that scenario. So it seems the point of the analogy was missed.
