Favorite non game moments in UK basketball history

In 1978, I was 12 years old, and I went to the airport to greet the NCAA championship team when they returned. Pretty big stuff for youngster.

1996 Euclid celebration. Close enough to feel the heat from 18 news van.

Senior Day 1989.
Someone made an airplane out of a 3 sign and threw it in to court. Pitino took the mic and asked who threw it. The sight of 23000 people pointing at one poor soul has never left my mind.

1. - When Calipari left for Arkansas.
2. - In the past when we would get a highly rated 5-Star recruit
3. - When UK hired Rick Pitino
4. - When Billy Gillispie left

We probably high-fived each other in ‘96 on Euclid.

Three that stand out to me:

1988 Senior Night and Happy Chandler singing MOKH for the final time

Mark Pope Introductory Press Conference

1996 Team Celebration at Rupp

Any others that people can remember?

In 74 season a coed from TN. sat next to me at game, afterwards we hit the Library Bar and drank the night away. She did not have a place to stay so she ended up in my Dorm. Even though we lost game rest of day was awesome.

1985 the final four was at Rupp.
The Villanova and St. Johns fans (chicks) were
camping on Blanding-Kirwin when it started raining sideways.
Haggin Hall provided hot showers and warm beds and hearts for the poor Yankee princesses.
If you know you know.

"Notre Dame had fun in St. Louis."

Joe B., at the pep rally at Memorial after the 1978 Championship.
Digger Phelps enjoyed make snide remarks about UK and Joe . . .
Joe got the last word.
Loved it!!!

That 1978 Final Four was the closest Digger even remotely came to a National Championship.

Joe may only have one title, but that's one title more than thousands of other coaches . . . Digger included.

Cutting through Memorial to get to class when it was raining and ending up looking at a bunch of NCAA trophies.

Pope’s introductory press conference.

Chuck Hayes senior night.
