I don't think a school of Bama's caliber hires Gran right now. He had a high powered offense at Cincinnati but for some reason has not produced a great offense here. Talent I guess. No way Bama hires an OC with the #103 offense in the nation. Gran is a successful coach but is going to be trending down with those numbers.

In some ways yes. It depends on what he is actually does as "Co-DC" At Bama he's working and learning from Saban.
He got a DC job and turned it down for an NFL job.

Source tells me Hugh Freeze interviewed for Alabama offensive coordinator job today with Nick Saban.
Why not? A month ago some on here were saying they couldn't coach a high school team offense and now they both are rubbing shoulders with the national title team's program. Who knew?

His daughter is younger than I would have guessed. I suspect, if they like Lexington, she will be a good reason for them to stay out for a while.
Bama plays winning football. They would take a week of bad press for another national title. Not a bad trade-off.
Saban has been known, as the article linked above covers, to think outside the box. I guessed he would at least look at Freeze since his offenses have given Bama fits. And he has no NCAA restrictions as an assistant.
Saban is too smart to hire him as OC, but it wouldn't surprise if he ended up as a "video coordinator"...or something like that...
Hugh is going to get some sniffs at some point if he hasn't already. He's a legit offensive mind in an offensive era with P5 HC experience.
Somebody will find a way to get him on staff in some capacity....

Didn’t think Saban would be able to pull the trigger on Freeze. It goes against everything he stands for as an ultra conservative defensive guy.
Win TOP, win the TO battle, win the field position battle and run the ball 70+% of the time. Don’t turn it over and keep negative plays to minimum. Then let that stacked defense do what that it does and you’re winning a lot of ball games.
Freeze would have been fun from a train wreck, grab the popcorn perspective. But it would have Kiffin part 2 after Saban neutered his offense.
