TL;DR: Calipari's win percentage has dropped 15% since Brad Calipari revealed his "Earned, Not Given" Tattoo. Fire Brad Calipari.

For those who want to read my study:

Good evening colleagues,

I come to you today with an in-depth study that I have been working on for the past 15 minutes of my life. To give you some background, I was once the youngest person to ever be born in the state of Kentucky. Impressive, I know. Unfortunately for me, there is not much to do in Kentucky other than develop a dependence on bourbon and watch 18-22 yr old young men play basketball. So, like many other Kentuckians, I tend to benchmark my happiness on whether or not our rent-a-players play well.

THE STUDY

There is no denying John Calipari has had success at Kentucky. You can argue he has underachieved, but he still HAS achieved some things. Tons of wins, a championship, 4 final fours, and most importantly several first round draft picks for the NBA. Aside from a Nerlens Noel torn ACL in the 2012-13 and 2020-21 seasons, Kentucky has been competitive under Calipari. This season has been a big kick in the nuts for us wildcat fans living in the former civil war boarder state. Many of us are over the system that Calipari runs, we miss watching players develop, we hate watching terrible basketball in the first half of the season, and we hate his lack of offensive development. But many of us are reflecting on the past decade and are thinking, "What went wrong?"

Well, my friends, I think I have figured it out. No it's not Calipari missing on several key top 5 recruits. No, it doesn't have anything to do with injuries or games with bad refereeing. No, it's not just bad luck. The reason John Calipari's success has waned is because of....Brad Calipari's "Earned not Given" tattoo.

First of all, look at this thing. Look at the dumb little face he's making to look intimidating with a tattoo that says earned not given on his chest. That right there is a person with no self awareness. He's the son of a successful basketball coach who has made millions & millions of dollars. Everyone who has seen this tattoo has made fun of him for it, so I don't need to go further into this, but how did he ever think this was a cool tattoo?

NOW.

You may be asking what does his tattoo have anything to do with the current state of Kentucky basketball? Guys, it's simple and all in the numbers. Brad Calipari enrolled at UK in the 2016-17 season. He arrived on campus with the tattoo. He EARNED that spot on the roster. It had NOTHING to do with the fact that his dad was the coach.

Let's take a look at John Calipari's W/L record at UK, pre and post tattoo era. As you can see, his win percentage has decreased by just under 15% since the tattoo was slapped on Brad's chest.

As you can CLEARLY see, you can interpret the data exactly how I want you to so that my theory is correct. Kentucky has earned no championships or final fours after the tattoo arrived. Kentucky has not earned the commitment of a top 5 recruit who has actually played for us after the tattoo arrived. The tattoo has earned us nothing. It only has taken away from us.
