Drive the lane until they can stop it

Butler is almost impossible to guard, at least the competition so far. He is great at finishing too, and Oweh is almost the same. I would like us to do that until it's not working and focus less on 3s.
That's why UK was able to shoot around 80% on their two point shots tonight. Georgia State didn't help off of rotation and left the lane wide open for one-on-one driving attacks.

Huge mistake on their end, being that UK still managed 105 points of them.

We have those driving lanes because we’re such a threat from 3. No one can leave the corners. The spacing is beautiful. This is why we’ve been begging for a team that can shoot for so long!

The reason the could drive the lane, is GST was determined to take away the 3 which helped spread the floor and the Cat's adapted and went to the paint, with great success when you look at that shooting percentage from 2. UK uses the threat of the 3 to help set up the 2. If you take away the lane then they kill you with 3's, if you take away the 3 they pound the paint.

Pope ran the same play three times in a row for Robinson as well, that dribble curl into the lane. All three times he scored pretty easily.

Pope and his staff coach perfectly to whatever the defense is giving us rather than just rely on 3s or dribble around and force the ball into the lane.

The only way to get those drives is to have 2 or 3 guys out there that can hit the 3 and hit it at a good percentage. Either a team will take away the lane or will take away the 3. Hard to do both as ball movement is faster than any human. We keep moving the ball on teams either way and we will have either the lane (drive) or the 3 open. It is proven time and again. Ball sticks (like some plays last night in the early 2nd half) and teams can make multiple stops, get back in the game. Against Clemson and the Zags UK better have their passing game on 100% going. Should be an interesting week.

I just love these threads where the whole fanbase shows up and corrects the non-basketball-mind OP. Really warms my heart.
