He said an NBA player,not a former player,though it's likely it was a former UK Player at an Open Gym Event.
Not sure, but I love it.
Cal doesn't want Briscoe to talk smack on the court (right now), but you bet he wants him to become a gritty defender ala Liggins.
And you'll notice during the stretch run against UNC in 2011, Cal wasn't telling Liggins to stop talking trash against Harrison Barnes, because Liggins was backing it up and was actually thriving in that mentality.
Sometimes it will be needed, and if Briscoe plays defense like Cal wants him to, I can guarantee you Cal won't stop his jawing when it happens.

Ulis picked a fight with Boogie before his freshman year. The new guys always want to show they won't be pushed around.

Briscoe is extremely tough...has that New York (Newark) edge to him. Also has some guns on him to back it up, it seems. Wouldn't want to tangle with him and hope Cal can keep him under control. But just enough not to get ejected...not so much that he can't do some intimidating.

Dino said he spent a lot of time in Lexington over the summer...He must not like what he saw..He didn't pick UK in the F4...
I remember that. I don't remember what game it was, or who the kid was. I just remember seeing Cal yell at him, "Eric's going to kick your ass after the game! You're messing with the wrong kid!"
