I never wanted him. I was depressed over Mitch’s apparent obsession with hiring his buddy.
Me neither. It was a very lateral hire, if there’s such a thing.
I honestly think I would have been less enthused about a potential Drew season than I would have been if Cal stayed. I am so damn glad we avoided him. For multiple reasons.
We got the best guy for the job. Yes even better than hurley. That wouldn't have been a good fit.

I wanted Drew because he won a title. So glad we got Pope though, even with no tourney wins.

I didn’t want Drew either but the next candidate after him and Pope was even scarier…Shaka Smart!
Drew is a better coach than cal, more accomplished than pope, and a really good recruiter. But this job would have eaten him alive.
