D-League

The Yes laser light concert back in the 70's is still the best concert I've ever attended.
These guys are off the charts as well!

Good Saturday morning D League

Trust all are doing well and ready for a relaxing week end. I checked outside and the thermometer reads 74° and the weather girl said we should see 87° by mid afternoon. Barry is visiting Louisiana and will drop a lot of rain. We will have intervals of showers but we are heading to a dryer forecast. With lots of sunshine. It may get into the low 90's next week with the rain moving on out. I smell sausage frying so I best get out of here.

Good morning! I am awake way too early this morning. Need to time it to where I wake up after the coffee is made.

Guess I'll work on some trim today. Too close to the end to slow down now.

One of the attorney's at my wife's office is helping us with all the estate stuff but she's doing it under the table so we don't have to pay the steep price of dealing with her firm.

Bob Ross did 381 paintings on his show. Sometimes I turn it on as background noise but I'm always drawn in. Dude is like human valium. He really does explain and demonstrate it in a way that makes a person think "It's so easy a Bluegrass American could do it".

The pundits are underestimating YOUR UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY WILDCATS on the gridiron this year. They think last year was a fluke made possible by two guys. That's going to cost someone a lot of money. I'm going to hit the OVER pretty hard at 6.5 wins.

We have 4 OOC games that we should walk away with. Arkansas is UK in the first seasons of probation. UT at home, UF at home. There's 7 right there.

Good morning D-League. Heading out early to hike in the Harper’s Ferry area. It’s a striking area that Thomas Jefferson once called the most beautiful in America. Of course very few had seen Kentucky by then, or the Grand Canyon, for example.

Hope everyone has a fun day planned.

Harper's Ferry is nice. One of my railroad friends retired to Harper's Ferry area. He still loves it.

In my view the Appalachians are more beautiful than the Rocky Mountains. They lack the heights and grandeur of the Rocky’s, but I think are more beautiful. The Grand Canyon is grand and massive, but still in my book not a beautiful as the Appalachians. I love the humid east where things grow.

It is 69.4°F and cloudy. We got a 20% chance of rain, but it looks like it is a 100% chance.

I took it easy yesterday, but had to go get eggs. I went to the IGA and the I-65 area of town was crammed with people. Gas had gone up from $2.48 Tuesday to $2.69 yesterday. I had to park in the back of the parking lot and then got my eggs and bananas and then waited in line.

There were a bunch of campers and RV's and guys buying a bunch of beer. The two guys in front of me each were buying two cases each. There is going to be some fun at the local lakes this weekend.

I am in 100% agreement with you. I too think the world is over looking a solid UK football team. I am so confident I have blocked everything off of my calendar during the bowl season in anticipation of a good bowl game to attend. At the minimum I expect a Florida bowl game. If things break in our favor we could play an even better bowl. I think this is the year we handle UT and I think we should beat UF again this year and get a two game winning streak started. So I see 7 minimum and expect more.

I love the classic cars. If I was a multi-millionaire I would have a warehouse full of them. Yesterday I had a headlight replaced in my wife's SUV and it cost me $316.00. Looking at the headlights on the classic cars makes me sick knowing I could change it in 5 minutes with a screw driver and the headlight would cost less than $5.00.

Morning everyone.
Nothin fancy today. Just got in to work, then some yard piddling when I get home.
Went out last night with #1, her "hubby" and his parents. They are good people...and good drinkers. They're a notch or 2 above me in that category.
#2 is enjoying her summer off and taking care of her little baby. Her 1 yr birthday party (Sept.) is in the works.
#3 finished his summer class yesterday...Cell Biology. Proud of him, kid has got it going on....for now. He will graduate in May, Biology major.

One concern w/the football Wildcats is the lack of DB's...and defense in general. They lost a lot of good'uns from last year.
However, with that said....if I had ymmot money, I would hit the OVER pretty hard at 6.5 wins also.

I need a new (pre-owned) vehicle...

On 8/31 we play our first game against Toledo. The spread at the moment is UK -12.

That is free money my friends. This team and it's coaches are chomping at the bit to prove the talking heads wrong and they will no doubt throw down on Toledo. We'll be up by 12 in the first quarter.

I may not make enough to retire this year off of UK being undervalued, but I should make enough to stay retired and maybe eat a few extry steaks.

Morning D
Been enjoying a couple of cups of coffee out here on the front porch. Very pleasant so far
Busy day ahead. Have a bit of housework to do then Rob and I are headed to the Great American Picnic at the Shady Glen Club for some good food and great live music. If you’re near the Louisville area you should come on out..only 10 bucks per person for food and the band...just bring your own beverages.
If nothing else, I’ll be there so....:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I am not a betting man but these football "experts" and their opinion of UK football is making it hard for me to remain a non bettor. I wonder if Vegas has more respect when they put out their lines on UK games. We shall see. I am planning on being in Lexington for the home opener.

I'm really not a betting man myself. I bet on horse racing for the Oaks and the Derby. Depending on how that goes I may or may not bet on the Belmont and Preakness. This year I did not even watch the last two. The only other betting I do is on the Wildcats and sometimes I'm watching the game when I realize I didn't bet on it.

← does not have a gambling problem. I think I'm ahead on the year so far with golf gambling but it wouldn't be much ahead. Or behind. I have a golf problem. I suck.

  • Checking in Wildcats.
  • 81º in Johns Creek. Beautiful day so far.
  • 2 mugs of Dark Magic down. Working on the last one.
  • QB is gone to see about #5. He is resting. #4 & her mother spent the night and nursed him through the night.
  • Hope all y'all are well and feeling good.
  • I'm ready for some football my self.
  • We'll have some ripe figs around here in about 3 weeks.
  • Listening to 50s now. Only about 65 years ago.
  • Paul Anka wrote "Diana" about his babysitter.
  • Be safe today.
  • Carry on.
  • As you were.

Over the years, to avoid gambling, my top end bet is a coke and a twinkee. That was a quarter awhile back.

Morning. FCC.

On your next trip to Dollywood make certain you do not take a wrong turn. You might end where Ray Stevens did.

My grandma handled snakes in church. I didn't see it though, Being a good Bluegrass American I took my northern Indiana girlfriend (now wife) on a date to a snake-handling church. We left when they unboxed the snakes.

This just in. Some of you guys need to get out there before it dissipates. Gonna need more patrol boats to cut down on the drownings.

Bourbon spill from fire making way to Ohio River

VERSAILLES, Ky. (AP) — Bourbon that leaked from a fire that destroyed a Jim Beam barrel warehouse in Kentucky is making its way to the Ohio River.

State environmental officials say they’re assessing wildlife impacts and doing fish kill counts along the waterways near the Woodford County facility.

The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet says in a release on social media that an “alcohol plume” from the bourbon runoff in the Kentucky River is approximately 23 miles (37 kilometers) long.

The cabinet says the bourbon should dissipate very quickly once it reaches the much larger body of water.

Officials estimate about 45,000 barrels of bourbon were destroyed in the fire that started Tuesday. It was extinguished over the weekend.

I've probably destroyed about two barrels in my life.

Went to Walmart to get cat supplies and grilling equipment. Then made the trip to Kroger for people supplies and grilling food. Glad I took the day off because it is hot out there. Africa hot.

Could use a nice cooling rain long about now but it doesn't seem to be in the cards.

Today will be the first time I've fired up the egg under a roof. I've cooked out there with the gas burner and with an induction burner though.

The last meal Dad and I ate together was out there. I did a pork tenderloin for a couple of hours in the sous vide and then seared it in a CI skillet. Had potato salad and baked beans. He raved about the pork.

Below are some pictures of behind mom's house in Middlesboro and a reason we've experienced such a difficult time selling. @starchief5 has probably seen it and may remember. House has stood since 1896, and formerly belonged to the old tannery. Located at 33 Old Pineville Pike (now 233 Binghamton Rd). Sale is pending. We may get $41K for it. Mountain occupies over an acre of land. Great for ginseng cultivation.
