D-League

Evening, the D. Busy weekend so I am just now checking in. Anna is here and her mom is watching the Packers game. I get to put her to bed again.

Guess Tennessee is a basketball school now. Good luck in your bowl game, I’ll be rooting for y’all!
In a point as we are rivals of sorts and I know a lot of vitriol is spewed by some on here (not D league but other threads) I applaud your grace in accepting it not being personal, You are indeed a class poster, thank you.

Went to a memorial service yesterday before the game. A 10th degree grand master in Kyokushin (one of the styles I am in) died November 17th of a heart attack. He was 62 years old and had had a heart attack about 6 months earlier and was hospitalized a few days. This time he stayed in the hospital for a few hours and then decided to go home. After going home he had another and died. I did not know him personally but knew him from Karate tournaments in which we normally exchanged pleasantries. Very big man at around 6' 5" or so 350 plus pounds. Over 250 plus people in attendance including students of his of many years of which many dressed in their Ghi's. Included in attendance were many people he and his family had gotten off of the streets and helped change their lives. Many testimonials as to his very helpful and generous nature. Very well loved individual. After all of the testimonials and the service and ending prayer was said, the man conducting the service (a nationally known martial artist Denny Holzbauer world champion many years ago) said he was approached by the widow with a request. She ask that all black belts in attendance stand and give one last bow of respect to a man she considered the best man she ever knew. One of the best services I have ever attended.

Wish I could have known him better.
Wish I knew the man too. God bless him.

Now that it looks like the Cats may be in the Citrus Bowl, that may be an acceptable reason to my wife for us to spend the first week of January in Orlando. I hate cold weather more each year.
I went to Orlando as my after divorce getaway. Ended up being the coldest weekend there in years! Still had a good time.., but I went to Miami the next year!

Back to work

Good morning from Nolin Lake near Anneta, KY. Temperature = a frosty 34°F and windy. Cold. Some snow reported north of here. Have not poked my head outside yet. Heading down to Nashville in a few before returning here for one more night. Driving to ATL in the morning.

Had a wonderful visit with @Bert Higginbotha and @ymmot31 . Great food and fellowship. Thanks to you both.

I'll check back later. Y'all behave.

Good morning D-League

A pleasant 70 degrees with a high expected of 75. Little foggy at the moment but sun will burn that off within the hour I would suppose. We have a 50% chance of rain this afternoon.

I guess I will spend a portion of the day getting Christmas decorations down from the attic and sorting everything out. I watched Charlie Brown Christmas last night and wondered how much of it would be allowed if it was filmed today. It came out in 1965 and this is a different world.

I smell bacon frying.

Everyone have a nice day.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and Lurkers.
  • 45º in Johns Creek. It feels like 35º because it is blustery and rainy-looking. I could just skip Winter and it would be alright with me.
  • Our game with Louisville will be remembered for a long time. That game was so much fun to watch. I am still giddy over the result.
  • I hope you sick ones are getting better.
  • And if you have problems that you can't talk about that they get worked out to your satisfaction.
  • Be careful driving today. Don't become a statistic.
  • Please forgive all of my grammatical and spelling errors, Take them as affection.
  • Carry on.

Im gonna remember just how dirty they tried to played, especially how they let that Crum kid act with no repercussions from it...Other than the typical rivalry stuff that happens our kids were head and shoulders above the better classy team..

Christmas, like Easter, is a holiday in which the person whose birth it purportedly celebrates - who he was, what he did or stood for - must not be mentioned in public. It is not PC to even mention the name.

I work part-time at a Dollar Gen. that is 1 mile from my house. Normally I do the cashier thing. Our store is bigger than most and is in the top 4 percent of all their stores. I see several hundred people per shift. I have a golden opportunity to witness about Jesus. No one has told me to stop. And I won't. When I talk to the customer and they ask me how I'm doing, I say, better than I deserve. And I see what they do with that and go from there.

I talk alot when there. That's just what I do. Kinda fun. I do what I do. I have come to realize that there's a certain amount I can not do because that's God's business. He does what He does. And when He does, I'm amazed and in awe. FCC.

I think all Christians should watch Charlie Brown Christmas. The gang asked what the real meaning of Christmas was and Linus the boy with the blanket stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park. He quoted scripture of the Christmas Story. If filmed today I am not sure that would be allowed in the script. But in 1965 we could still express the name of Jesus Christ without worry or censorship.

I love watching Ole Charlie Brown.

Hey Ben, glad to see you. Enjoy yourself!

You too Austin, always a pleasure to see you when you venture out.

A cold 34.7 and sleety moringing here.

Enjoyed the @AustinTXCat @ymmot31 visit. Ymmot and Bert talked to past 1:00 am this moring.

The D-League has a great group of folks.

It was 1:03 Bert and the temp was 40.1 when I went outside.

I had a great time and as usual the food and company was excellent. Thank you and Sherry for all your hospitality.

I so hated to miss it
You three are some of the best guys I’ve ever been ever had the pleasure of knowing

Wish you guys could have made it. We had cheesy sausage ball and smoked salmon. Sherry makes a slaw that is better than the old KFC slaw. Mmmm...

Folks let me tell you about my friend Ymmot.

He has been coming to my house ever so often for four years. The man is incredibly smart (I don't think he is quite as smart as me but it is really close) but he is bright. (Do not believe him if he says he is smarter than me, it will not be the truth!).

Ymmot likes good food and drink. His taste goes across the board. I am a bourbon man, yet Ymmot likes bourbon and scotch. I am far more biased on food than Ymmot. He just likes good food and he is on a constant conquest for the good stuff and he loves making it.

Last night he sampled all sorts of drink. The bourbon, scotch and some stuff he may have blended. In between the drinks he would clear out the pallet with a few bites of food. He would tell me if the drink was rough or worth the price.

Not only does he appreciate good drinks; every time he shows up it is with a good bottle of booze. He mentioned the sausage, well the truth is Ymmot brought the pork that he had gone to the store, bought pork shoulder and ground it up himself. Sherry added some herbs, cheese etc. and rolled it into balls and fried it in an air fryer. The man ain't cheap. He loves good food and drink.

My only problem with Ymmot was that he and Sherry kept talking and would not listen to my words of wisdom.

Damn you beat me!

I thought Richie was there and you were busy.

Thanks for all the kind words Bert! That almost made me wish I could say something nice about you.

We covered a lot of topics last night and I can't think of a single world problem that we didn't solve.

I'm proud as I can be to call you a friend!

We need more people like y'all solving world problems. It is important

What's that you say? You want some UL scoop? Well OK, here ya go. Petrino impregnated a teacher at the school last year and UL has been paying her to keep it quiet. Apparently the team knew about it and it led to them having a less than stellar attitude this year.

Oh, that's not enough?

Well, then you may be less than surprised to hear that Jeff Brohm has agreed to take over the dumpster fire at Floyd St. Should be announced soon.

We'll see as it's all third hand info.
