D-League

Good morning from Shawanee, TN. Currently cloudy and 44°F. Leaving these beautiful mountains tomorrow.

BB Cats played okay last night. I'll take the W, but so much more improvement is needed.

FB Cats play tonight against the evil Cards. I'm also watching Vandy/Vols at 4 with family.

I'll check back later. Y'all behave.

Good morning
Celebrated Thanksgiving at parents house yesterday. Sawed up some firewood, ate good...again.
Forgot about the game...doh!
Heading in to work this morning, then our local Blues Blast starts. It runs from 2-9 pm, gonna make for a long day. Headline group is Cashbox Kings.
Guess I need to get up... gotta get a move on.
I find myself forgetting about basketball more often than not. If I didn't read this message board I would miss a lot of them. The excitement just isn't as intense as it once was for me. I don't know if it is style of play or the OAD or a combination of both. It is not just me either, check out the empty seats in Rupp. Maybe after football things will get back to normal for me. I sure hope so

  • Good Morning, D-League
  • Currently 66º with a high of 77. Pleasant day ahead
  • Today is the end of the regular season with a big game over in Louisville against the Cards.
  • This is a big game. We are heavy favorites going against a football team that collapsed and fired their coach. I want our Cats to come out and throw the conservative play calling out of the window and score some points. Even average teams are scoring 50 on UL. We need to win this one by 25 or more and make a statement. A bowl game is in our future so let's act like a team that deserves a good bowl game and TKB.
  • Our basketball team was blah last night. You can tell in Cal's voice he is bewildered. Watched Kansas and Tennessee. Tennessee had them until Williams fouled out. Both will be tough to beat unless we make a drastic change.
  • Have a great day, let's beat the Cards and show the world we are a football team and can score some points.
  • Y'all behave and cheer hard

Walking along Bristol Road here in Shawanee, TN over the years, I've found a decent amount of money.

Found $25 ($20 + $5) near the Virginia border over two days a couple years ago. Guessing it blew out of some careless driver's open windows. Gave it to my daughter. Found 20 cents in change along side the pavement near our old house a few years ago. Found 12 pennies last night returning from my hike to the Cumberland Gap.

Life is good.

A juicy tidbit from my hometown newspaper in 1898. Prototype D-Leaguers?

1898: A letter to the editor complained about the men and boys who stood on the street corners. “Nearly every day you can see these idle foul-mouthed reprobates fix their impudent gaze upon young ladies as soon as they come down the avenue, and then stand and stare and make outrageous remarks until they are out of sight.”

Note: I did not read this article at that time. I found it in the Archives.

It's no wonder men acted that way. Look at how women dressed. Tramps!
Oh, I'll bet Don dated at least one of these gals in HS.

Couldn't figure out where Shawanee was. Had to look it up. Oh, that's Harragit.

Probably go into OT.

Ditto. OAD for me. The players come and go and "we hardly knew ye."

50.9°F here as I am late. Stayed up to 2:00 am this morning. Could not sleep. It is cloudy and ugly.

The Cats have a lot of improvement to meet expectations.

I've had trouble getting to sleep for several years now. I now take sleeping pills every night and it has been working. Without them I'm awake till 4-5 AM.

I am just shocked at their waist size. It is hard to find a woman with a small waist in this day and age. Drinking a case of beer on Friday and Saturday night will do that to you. Those corsets were as tight as Dick's hat band.

I don't go there because you can catch a bad disease.

Hell I rarely go to House of Blue.

I haven't been to the HOB for several years.

I was up until 0200 myself, slept til 1000.

Studies show that people who stay up late, nightowls we'll call them, are the more intelligent of our species. Settled science.

Hey Bert, when did my wife and I visit you? I can't remember how long I was on Keto.

Had coffee waiting for me when I got up and now she's in there cooking sausage and eggs. It's been over 50 hours since I've had anything but Thanksgiving food. It's good, but it will eventually take me somewhere I don't want to go.

I'm looking forward to the game tonight. I'm glad we went to the last game there and hope we can continue our winning streak at their house. Remember the first game they ever played in that stadium? I do. What a thumping that could have been much worse if we hadn't taken Couch out early in the third quarter. Good times.

Good News From Science: Night Owls Are Smarter and More Creative

The first meeting took place in their homes, where the students were asked to take an intelligence test. Five years later, he interviewed 15,197 of the original respondents again. This time, they reported when they went to bed and when they woke up on both the weekdays and weekends.

He found that people with high intelligence are likelier to be night owls. This applied across a wide span of demographic variables, such as ethnicity, education and religion. As Kanazawa explains it, sleeping late at night was rare back in our ancestors’ day, making it “evolutionarily novel.”

Hello to all. Questions.

Aren't the teams we played in the Bahamas better than the teams we played lately? I'm thinking they are. And we looked very very good in those games down south.

Did Richards have more of a presence there? I don't have any copies of those games.

So what's going on now?

Is it the lack of a big man's presence that scores as well as police the lane?

Of course it's a bit early. And Cal is the coach who is very smart. Patience.

Played football in a Paducah league when I was in the 6th. grade. Quaterback. Didn't have football at my HS (Heath) until my senior year and then it was junior varsity....no seniors. But basketball rules at my house all year. All 6 of us watch the Cats and yell and go nuts. Fun time and forever passionate fans. Played basketball all of HS and started my senior year. We were 13-12. Anyway. go Cats. FCC.

Now my opinions are like elbows , I have two about everything. The Bahama teams had better talent but not as well coached.
So what's going on now?
Thinking instead of responding.

Both, Nick has everything but maturity, he can shoot, he can run & jump, he has attitude (pushes back). When Reid rubs off. :boom:

Yes and the steep curve is an exciting wild ride.

Didn't work for me.

FCC.

Word on the street is those guys were spending most of their time in the casino and bar. They were hungover when they played us and didn't care if they won or lost. They were getting paid the same either way. It gave us false hope. Truthfully, with a bunch of guys with the individual talent we have, Cal probably would have had better results if he had indeed, just rolled the ball out.

Locomotive needs right rail and rail bed raised several inches

Check that picture again. The train isn't on the rail closest to you, that's a different track and if you look down the line you can see it.

  • 1st thought "BS!"
  • 2nd thought "I should think 1st"
  • 3rd processing . . .

That's quite a few people in that survey. Being who you are and doing what you do, you know that the larger the sample size, the more accurate the findings.
Evidence my friend, surveying unfortunately has been corrupted to mean science is progressive BS.
Mankind is relatively unchanged in the last 100,000 or so years.. . . . . some ecotype adaptation for sure. With no tapetum lucidum we are a diurnal species. The elimination of natural selection mechanisms slow or reverse evolutionary progression. Your internal biological clock will have importance to your daily function. Not mine. Not better or worse. I'll fire up the ole time capsule and let you know my opinion when I know enough to have one. I think them mountain cave dwelling warlocks and swamp dwelling witches stayed up all night, you know conjuring this BS for normal folks to worry about.

still processing . . .

Did you know a coach named Charles Hopkins?

I read the last chapter in the Bible. Everything is OK
