Yep , it was so bad Barnhart forfeited his right to hire Billy's replacement . lolThe craziest story of all is he was hired as the head coach of the University of Kentucky Men's basketball team

Yes you can . Heck , Mike Pratt had more to do with Calipari's hiring than Barnhart did . They even hired Willard as some kind of basketball only athletic director . Barnhart and Calipari rarely even speak .Cant blame him for hiring BG and not give credit for hiring Cal.
It was a little confusing with the IMO thrown in at the very end. With some of the other pop culture/fictional references in this thread I wondered if I was missing another one.Heard it happened but wasn't there. You think I could make that up, a little prickly aren't you.
IMO is habit only so I would say I heard that story and believe it to be true but was not present if you are asking for such detail.![]()
When BCG was hired I got a call from former supervisor in Champaign. He told me BCG was a drunk womanizer that would not last more than two years. His son turned down a job here because BCG was not stable. I passed this along and was trashed. I was shocked anyway as I wanted Cal. 2009 was so fine.
You have to wonder how many banners would be hanging if MB had gone with Cal from the start. IMHO,
he was clearly the man for the job.
I believe boosters along with Pratt and company forced MB's hand to hire Cal, if solely left to MB, Mike Brey would have been hired.
Actually its great that Cal did not come till 2009. The Derrick Rose thing would have happened here and who knows what might have happened. Those 2 BCG years were actually worth it because we got Cal at the perfect time because the class that started everything here was going to Memphis at the time and that's when Cals recruiting really took off.You have to wonder how many banners would be hanging if MB had gone with Cal from the start. You signed up for this site as a 16 year old?
And ending in this:
I did sign up as a 16 year old which should tell you A) Im a true UK fan, B) Maybe why some posters on here act the way that they do.
Dr. Pepper and nab crackers is what he had for breakfast or so the story went.Hard to believe so much trouble could come from a few little Dr. Peppers.
I had pretty much blocked out these two years from my memory banks. Thanks a lot for bringing them up, guys.![]()
Mike Brey was the man Mitch wanted.I remember Matt Jones saying that Rick Barnes (yes I know the running joke about him) was on the short list with Mitch.
I also remember Mike D'Antoni was interested in the job but I don't think the timing was right (memory is fuzzy on this)
Looks like John Goodman.Billy Clyde was ship faced the night he was arrested.

Story? As much as i do not like her from a personal standpoint, i'd bet Sandy Bell would handle that situation much differently than Memphis did.
Even so take a look at the following class - in which he pulled Tyreke Evans.
Had he been here the year prior he probably adds JaMychal Green and Scottie Hopson to that class.
Add those 3 to PPat and Meeks, Miller and Liggins...
Definitely not NIT...
I meant about not liking SB on a personal level. Was just curious if there is something interesting you could share. If not, no worries.Which story?
Mine?
The free throw block was so ridiculous. At random times I still think about it trying to figure out what was in his head. All this time and I still don't have a clue. I actually tried to find a video of it a few months back, but I couldn't find one. It seems as though it was so dumb, history has rejected it.
