Dan Hurley with a parting shot: "we don't win popularity contests, we win championships".. and I can't help but wonder if there's some truth to this when it comes to players choosing Duke as opposed to another school, maybe the school that's really better for them long term.
For sure, there are some great Duke recruits who go on to have great NBA careers, like Tatum. But I'm watching Banchero struggle in the opening of his sophomore season. And he just looks timid, looks like he doesn't care, looks like he put in zero work all off season.
Flagg is the type of recruit who will be fine. Likely a long time NBA player and maybe several all-star type years. But the amount of Duke failures in the NBA is kind of alarming. Guys like Jabari, Wendell Carter, zion, RJ, Giles, Cam, Bagley, and more. It seems their best NBA players were the lesser recruits who went there to work, not because it was the cool pick.
