Why do you Cal haters make these idiotic statements? The man has the #1 recruiting class in the country. He's not going to be fired because he hasn't signed a few role players yet. Act like you have sone common sense.
And why do slurpers ignore the fact that program is on a clear downtrend since 2018 and has shown no signs since 2020 that are even remotely a threat to challenge, nor will our damn coach make the changes possible to be a legit threat, so yes if he refusing yo change it’s time to go, 10 years at Kentucky is the benchmark anyways

I think Oscar returning was never going to happen. Calipari is wanting to move on. He thinks this class coming in will salvage his legacy. He better hope so. At this point we might have get Brad back here to suit up so they can practice 4 on 4. I have no expectations for 2023-24. Nothing will surprise or disappoint me. It will come and go like the leaves 🍁 of Fall. Next April Kansas will win their next title and I will die a slow death just like Kentucky Basketball. Louisville will be in a Final 4 before we ever sniff around one again.

He has made changes. He just hired a new coach apparently to help make the offense more like a NBA offense. He has changed his recruiting strategy. He has gone back to prioritizing the one-and-done recruits who helped him be so successful during an earlier period at UK. You Cal haters are so biased you won 't admit the truth.

It’s funny how Arkansas can get 5 transfers and we get caught with our pants down.

You want truth?

2-6 in post season games in the last three seasons.

Changes are worthless without results. Because at that point you’re just paining deck chairs on the Titanic.

The problem most have is that UK has as many open scholarships as used scholarships. When you add that to the last couple of seasons it’s a cause for concern. With that said I have no doubt Cal will have a talented roster of at least 10 players. He just needs to do a lot better this year than he did the last 3.

The nba coach I will give that a start, his offense has not changed it’s still dribble drive Bs, and he never stopped recruiting one and dones he was just getting his ass beat on the recruiting trial

Reeves would make more at UK than any other option. It's a job and the best job is one more season at UK.

He may not want to deal with school another year. At his age I don't blame him but got to deal with it to play basketball. Surely can find 4 joke online courses to take this fall and next spring.
Exactly. Make a business decision. It's the most money and it'll help him long term on and off the court to have extended UK ties.
Oh the horror of making $100,000+ to work on your game while receiving all the additional perks of gear, gym/training access, and therapy.

Here we are hanging those #1 recruiting banners again. Ever since your boy has gotten that lifetime contract exactly what kind of success has he brought to UK? I’ll hang up and listen I know you won’t have much to say!

I believe he's been to 2 Elite 8's since that time.

Since 2019? Are sure you’re a fan?

We haven’t had but one tournament win since that lifetime contract that’s right one tournament win. We have had the worst season in school history, we have had the worst tournament loss in school history , and got passed by Kansas for the most wins. So having the #1 recruiting classes don’t matter if you can’t do nothing with them so don’t come at me with some misinformation!

The tournament was cancelled in 2020 because of covid. We had a strong team that year and seemed headed for a strong run in the tournament. In 2021 we had a bad year but a lot of blue bloods did because of covid. We were upset by a very underrated team in 2022. This year's team was only pretty good. They won 1 tournament game. That was a good accomplishment as far as I'm concerned.

Come on Trollin Terry, winning just one tournament game isn’t the gold standard

Dude just head on back to your Louisville board they miss you over there! This is UK winning 1 tournament game since 2019 isn’t UK standards! QUIT MAKING EXCUSES FOR THE CON MAN!

People are giving Cal too much credit when they say that he's set in his ways on how to run the basketball program. HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT UK. His focus is the NBA and getting his guys there. Sure, he let possible transfers come here to check things out, but does anyone actually believe he would say "Nah, we're good, we don't need transfers"? He knows the roster is very thin, but he does not care. I know that *I* would not "change" if I had his kind of money, but we've all seen it where that kind of money seemingly gives a person complete immunity from doing the right thing or setting a good example. Cal literally doesn't have a worry in the world. He'd laugh in UK's face if they fired him, and then pack up his dogs, wife and daughters and head back to the New England area.
It’s just hard to accept that a guy would flush his legacy down the toilet like he is.

He had it rolling for many years, then I think he got in over his head when the game changed. Seemd like he just gave up, but is too addicted to the power he has to just quit.

The other odd thing is, he’s doing all this for the players, well, the players don’t need his help for one thing and on top of that, so many of them have shafted him by sitting out, dragging out decisions and milking injuries to hide hurt feelings, or draft stock and Cal is left to deal with it in front of the microphones.

Heck, Derrick Rose left Memphis high and dry, Cal told him not to worry about it, but the school paid the price. Players are not supposed to be bigger than the program, but that's not the case with Cal in charge and that needs to stop.

I hope you're right, but I can't help but think that Cal is behind all these shenanigans. Otherwise, why does he not call them out? They're grown-ass adults. If you're going to cheat your coach and the program, then you ought to be fine with the blowback that comes from it. Cal just seems too part and parcel.

Oh he definitely is behind it. He created the culture thst allows the bahavior we have seen.

But he not only allows it, he protects the players and gives them an avenue to use the program like toilet paper.

The Sharpe situation should have gotten Cal publically shamed. But then, he held up a sheet to hide Wheeler's pouting ass last year. How is that helping him? You can't allow a kid to pout. Heck, he even had Ellen walk for him on Senior night.

It’s something every year. It’s way past tine for Cal to go.

I'm here in Chicago, Illinois not Louisville. The program has been down for a few years. I am extremely optimistic about this year's great recruiting class. You Cal haters root for the team to fail. I always pull for the team to win. Thst's the difference between me and the Cal haters. I also don't have a pathological hatred for the coach.

What’s really crazy about it is that Cal used to be ahead of the game in everything. The innovator of all innovators. He pushed for NIL for years, possibly decades, only to be so far behind the 8 ball on it, it’s almost surreal. Not only that, but he was also gifted the transfer portal and hasn’t really cashed in much with it. Cal is a fuvking dinosaur!
Cal lost it when he thought he could stubborn his way into an undefeated season while proving he was smarter than everyone else and missed it by just that much. Since then he's doubled down on the stubborn but with half the success.

Yeah, this ain’t DePaul. It’s understandable that someone in Chicago wouldn’t have a finger on the pulse of UK basketball. But, don’t try to apply their weak expectations onto the greatest program in the history of the sport. It’s downright insulting & any real UK fan knows that. A 2nd round exit here is a failure, plain & simple. This fanbase doesn’t celebrate mediocrity & it never will.

Yeah if he really is from Chicago lol

I swear. No way that dude is a fan of UK. It was a success to lose 13 games guys! One tourney win in 5 years is good. Cal is great! What an accomplishment!!
After Baller made that thread begging a mod to ban me and used the username that I wore a skirt…it was a great example of how crazy some people are on the internet. No doubt in my mind theirs people that get on here with multiple accounts just to make things dramatic. Idk why anyone would do that and I don’t understand why they enjoy it.

yea, everyone here, posting during baseball season, wants to see the program fail.

that's why they hang on to every recruiting and transfer miss because they want to see failure

some people man...

It's pretty obvious at this point that Reeves doesn't want to return.

It's been over a week since the G-League combine ended, he didn't get invited to the regular combine, no chance of getting drafted or even a 2-way deal, yet he still hasn't announced a return?

Pretty clear he doesn't want to come back.

He might still announce his return, but it's clearly not his preferred option.
He's actually working out for teams right now, I believe the Bucks most recently. So just because he didn't get invited to the combine, doesn't mean his work was done. I believe he was multiple private workouts scheduled with NBA execs

Yeah but I think you have to consider this: IF you're wanting to be a professional basketball player, going to the G-League allows you to train full time, by NBA personnel, personal trainer, etc. Being at UK might get you more in NIL, but you have to go to college classes, you have to do team workouts instead of your own training, much more is focused on team success than your individual success

That's fair. Hadn't considered individual workouts.

You sure do use the word "Hate" a lot ?

Evidently, one season under Cow is all some players can take.
I think there's a lot of truth there. We all talk about him pushing kids to the NBA, but maybe these kids don't like Cal and desperately trying to get to the NBA to avoid him. He doesn't stress free throws, doesn't teach much of an offense, plays favorites, let's certain guys hide from being exposed, makes fun of the fans, allows a certain player to push for renaming Rupp Arena, places little importance in winning the conference. I for one would not want to be anywhere near a coach like that.

Next May Chitown Terry will be on here leading the charge saying how he believed in Cal but THIS season is where Cal crossed a line with him. Like he had some revelation that no else considered before watching Kentucky waste yet another season
You're giving Chitown Terry way too much credit for his mental faculties. He will never figure anything out.

It's 2023 not 1973. The days of a few blue blood programs dominating college basketball are over. Chicagoans have given up on Depaul. You act like that program is admired here. Depaul is one of the worst college basketball programs in the country. Kentucky is in great shape conpared to Depaul. UK is poised to be one of the top programs again.

Do people expect Cal to pull the rabbit out of the hat, we tried with a few studs and missed on them. They weren’t UK material anyway, I’m sure there are a few D-III or D-2 diamonds in the rough we might get to come here. I’m sure he has a few more buddies that their kid can walk on if needed to fill in the roster.

I expect Caliprairie to be a good enough coach that his players who don't have NBA options, come back and improve their BB skills every year; Instead, our coach continues to recruit freshmen (or transfers) over the sophomore class year after year, continuing his Player's First, OAD culture, when in fact we no longer have many (if any) OAD players. Freshmen players only get one year for the most part, which is a travesty, both for the players and the program.
