Cliff Hawkins crossover vs Lil Bro

I will see your Hawkins, and raise you a Patrick Sparks...Maybe the wildest final one minute in UK-Little Brother hoops history - four lead changes after Kentucky had come back from down 16 at the half on the road. Shades of the Battle in Seattle!
I was at that game. I truly couldn't believe what I was seeing. What an incredible comeback!

Also a big coaching blunder by Tubby at the end of that sequence. Once Sparks hit the 2nd free throw to give them the lead with less than a second left, you ABSOLUTELY have to miss the 3rd free throw to make them heave it full court. Instead, UL threw the ball 3/4 court and had a chance to win on a decent 3 pointer.

If you look very closely at Sparks on that video, after he makes the second FT he looks at the bench and mouths "miss it?" I don't know if Tubby said no, or he tried to miss and failed, but missing was certainly the right play. It DOES look like he put more arc on the third shot, like he was trying to bounce off the rim. But it went in.

Anybody know what Cliff is doing these days? Sparks has been back to Rupp recently, but I would love to see Bogans, Prince, Fitch and Hawkins back.

Admittedly been a few years, but as of 2019 he was living and working in Woodbridge, VA and playing in senior rec leagues on a team that you definitely did not want to get matched up with.

I remember watching that Hawkins crossover game, which was Pitino's first at Louisville. As Kentucky is pulling away jackass Dick Vitale says something like "you better beat Louisville now Kentucky because RIck Pitino is going to dominate this series..." Something like that.

Final score: Pitino Six wins. Three Kentucky coaches, including BCG, TWELVE wins. Dominate? Dominated.
I’m serious, I didn’t think he best us 6 times? Is that right? Wow. Much better than I thought. For some reason I thought it was 3??

Remember this game well. The 1st half we might have played the worst half of basketball a UK team played since the 2nd half of the 84 Final Four game against Georgetown. We trailed by something like 16 at the half, it looked like we were headed for a 30 point loss. Which would have been 3 losses in a row to Louisville. Thanks to a 2nd half comeback led by Patrick Sparks this game might have saved Tubby Smith his job.

You can tell what a nice guy Dick Vitale is by the fact he didn’t bitch slap the other announcer for suggesting Louisville could hold for the last shot down 1 with 27 seconds left.
