Wouldn’t do much for me but I know people would go nuts simply because he’s from Kentucky.

Edit: wouldn’t do much for me as a significant minutes guy. As a spot guy to make threes I’m all for it. Don’t see him as a significant contributor though.

Imagine him in addition to Allen, Grady and possibly Miller and Mintz. Nolan Hickman is also advertised as being a good shooter. We are strongly in the running for TyTy Washington who is also a 40% 3 point shooter. Suddenly UK could go from having only a couple of decent shooters to whole bunch of shooters. I say bring him on. If Cal is moving toward a guard oriented team, then we need all the guards we can get our hands on right now. Fredrick is certainly good enough to have a role here. He isn't going to be our headliner, but a damn serviceable role player that can knock down an open shot when he gets one.

As long as we still plan to add 2 more after him and get back at least Brooks then sounds good. That would give us 12 if so. I know this dude was injured the second half of the season so I think that hurt his stats.

Regardless, we still need at least one more PG and really another big in my opinion. We have seen major injuries every year for like 4 years. One injury and foul trouble and we will have Ware out there with a bunch of guards.

My son was born in Nashville, but he ain’t from Tennessee. He’s a Kentucky boy. Doesn’t matter where you are born, it’s where you were raised. And in some cases, it’s where your heart is.
This! Not sure why I haven’t mentioned this earlier, with all the back and forth about where CJ is actually “from”. Anyway, I was born in Huntington, WV. I am in no way, shape or form a WV boy. I’ve always been a KY boy, period.

I went to school in KY. I played all my sports in KY. I’ve always lived in KY. Was born at Cabell Huntington. Means absolutely nothing. Literally never crosses my mind. Hence, me never mentioning it. 😆

He is from Ohio but led Covington Catholic to a state title.
Go ahead and say what your really mean.
Not hard to figure out.

So what is more important to the people that want a roster full of “Kentucky Kids”?

Whether they were born in Kentucky or played their high school basketball in state?
I would say more important.. having more than one of two shooters.. outside shooting was abysmal last year would have helped. Adding CJ would help improve our 3 point threat and add another shooter.

Yes, and without the baggage that comes with Powell's dad.
I hope that is the true reason. Powell can play. 6’6 guard who can shoot from outside and play the point or 2G. I thought Calipari just did not want to deal with another KY players after the way Allen was handled this past season.
