CI Wrestling Thread #56

Keep thinking AEW will move Collision to an different time next week because it's dumb to go up against Saturday Night's Main Event.

Speaking of SNME

Lashley also repeated the angle he wanted to do with Gunther where he would've held his thumb over his upper lip and told him that he looks familiar. Poor Gunther. Austrian guy comes to America, does good, and his co-workers are just like, "Hitler! Let's do Hitler angles!"

That Bronson Reed injury was gross.

That was interesting they actually showed the 3 injuries and the x-rays.

AEW All In Texas Tickets are off to a slow start. A pre-sale was held this week for the event, scheduled for July 12, 2024, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and early reports suggest that ticket sales are estimated to be in the 2,000 to 3,000 range so far.

These initial numbers suggest a lack of significant momentum. Industry analysts have noted that attempting to fill a stadium of this size is ambitious, especially given AEW’s current attendance trends.

It’s been years since AEW could move 20,000 tickets on the first day. With recent PPV arena shows struggling to sell out, organizing a large-scale stadium event has become a more challenging proposition.

The Rey Fenix thing looks like yet another headache AEW doesn't need. He tweeted something about needing a doctor and he was ignored.

While they done pretty good attendance in Texas over the years, much like running the stadium show in Australia isn't a good idea. Hopefully I'll be wrong. TK claimed they'd already done over a million dollars in presales.

Didn’t he just come back from an injury?

The injury AEW star Juice Robinson reportedly suffered during his Continental Classic match with Will Ospreay is a broken fibula, with the injury being sustained early on in the match when Juice was blocking a sunset flip.

I think was injured for most of the last year which is supposedly why TK added time to his contract.

For something totally different.

Punk was ghosted during an injury, apparently same for Fenix. Starks and Danhausen have been ghosted, and Ryan Nemeth was ghosted and according to him, told to cut a personal promo against Punk even though there wasn't going to be an on-air story, just go out and trash him for reasons.

Lots of guys thrive in AEW but this paints a picture of childishness, vindictiveness, and disarray. Tony is probably involved with too much so he ends up ghosting his own talent when he's bored with them while HR continues to be a mess.

Regarding All In, I do think they'll get a good crowd. After this year and the Aussie failure, drawing only 10,000-15,000 for TX isn't an option.

Ironically enough wasn’t TK one of the advocates of health insurance for his wrestlers and such but it seems like it reality he’s doing the opposite of what he says - in fact he’s done a lot of the opposite of what he said in 2019 which is why they are in the state they are in currently.

He talked a big game and wanted to be the anti-Vince. The contract situation is what it is but it doesn't seem like the Khan family is great at overseeing large organizations. The Jags are a shitshow, their Euro team is usually a disaster, and while AEW is a success story, it appears to be ran pretty chaotically. Until there's a system and responsible people in place, we'll continue to hear these stories. And why does Tony Khan want everyone he talks to or does business with to sign NDA's? Cornette signed one and they just had a phone conversation.

Looks like Raquel didn't lift herself up with Rhea and then froze. If she has some strength, I'd give her simplistic moves like the bearhug or torture rack. The matches will stink but as an enforcer, she should only be wrestling once every several weeks anyway. Rhea will just have to wait for Zaria I guess.

The neat thing about WWE's creative is every few weeks you're getting something memorable. Reed destroying Rollins and his kaiju matches with Strowman, KO piledriving Orton, New Day's turn, etc. That's what they need. Can't expect every show to be a 10/10 but if you're getting moments here and there, it keeps fans engaged.

Raw did 1,324,000 viewers on Monday, down over 300,000 from last week. Guess the Bengals, Cowboys and Simpsons are a draw.

Rey Fenix has now deleted all his tweets bashing AEW.
