A lot of rumors swirling he could return but to me it doesn’t make any sense. Why would Calipari go after Dickinson if Oscar plans to return? How would you feel about Bradshaw at the four and Oscar at the five?

Oscar is 24. It's time for him to move on from college. If he doesn't try to make it to the NBA now, he may never make it.
Is that a bad thing if he pulls in another $2 million before going overseas to make a few hundred thousand per year?

The best thing for Oscar from a financial standpoint might be a return to UK.

Also, age has nothing to do with Oscar moving on. If LeBron was college eligible, I'd take him at UK if he wanted to come here.

He's recruiting as if Oscar won't be back. It's the intelligent thing to do. It means we're covered if Oscar doesn't come back, and that Oscar will actually have to compete for a spot if he does.

Will Oscar have to live in the Lodge or is going to be allowed to do his own thing again if he comes back?

Love Oscar but he wouldn't be doing his own thing or living away from Wildcat lodge like he did this past season if he comes back.He would adhere to the same rules the others do but I don't expect him back so it doesn't matter.

I'd say it's 2.7. -$3 million percent chance he could return. I'd also say it's about that same percentage that he could b playing for another school if Cal make sure he feels def unwanted. I see him hitting the portal before I see him putting name in draft.

If he were to come back he would have to play a little different role, would have to work on the defensive side, accept that he won't be the focus of the offense, the lane needs to be clear for drives, be more willing to work on his weaknesses ball handling, pick and roll defense and naybe play less minutes. If he does that then I think it can work if not I don't believe it would be a good fit

He's not moving on.I wish you guys would stop acting as if Cal is leaving. He will leave when he wants to leave. I think he'll stay for 2 more years.
Nah.

The pressure will be too much for him next year after he fails with the Wagner class. He'll have his 10 or 11 NBA All-Stars and that will be enough for him to think his "legacy" was truly transformative (which, in fairness, it was regarding the OAD stuff).

My sources are telling me he will definitely return unless he doesn’t. If he doesn’t return then it’s 100% he is gone and not coming back, that’s what I’m hearing at least.
He's definitely returning unless he doesn't--HUH?? If he doesn't return then it's 100% he is gone--HUH???? If he doesn't return, he's prolly lost his way and we need your scattered thinking to help him find his way back. My sources say he's either way==gone or coming back.

Hopefully, it's in the negative percentage. Oscar seems like a nice guy, but he isn't a good basketball player. He did nothing for WVU, and they actually played some zone to mask his defense. He was still awful. He has led us nowhere except for a lot of early exits. Aside from getting rebounds, he offers nothing. And I don't recall a lot of Cal teams struggling to rebound. So I think we will be okay in that regard if Oscar goes. At his age and with his strong beliefs, he isn't going to connect well with younger players. Particularly ones that don't want to be preached to all day. He also won't be eligible for the summer games as that is U23.

And to anyone suggesting he play the 4.... he can't guard a 5. How the hell is he going to defend a 4? We need a four who can stretch the floor and make some 3's, and Oscar can't move out further than 15 - 17 ft. So, his defender can easily sag off Oscar and help double the lane anytime Oscar moves out of it. Oscar also can't do the one thing he is actually good at when he is moved away from the basket. WVU tried him at the 4 and he was awful. Whoever thinks that is a good idea needs to go drink some bleach.

I would love to see UK become competitive again and actually have a chance to advance far in tournaments. We aren't doing that with Oscar. Nor is anyone else that plays him considerable minutes. Just ask WVU.

Just when I thought our fanbase couldn’t get any dumber, we get this gem. So tell us how someone who is not a good basketball player is able to sweep all 6 player of the year awards. I can’t wait to hear this.

He wants to come back because he loves it here and wants to make more millions. Cal doesn’t want him to and thinks he can boot him out because it’s what he’s done for 13 years now. Not sure how it will end.

Jeez, where would Oscar be going? He’s not going to the NBA. Is he going to transfer and make less NIL money somewhere?

I'd love to have him back, but if Cal plays him, he needs to go with a different means for feeding the post, this crap where everyone stands there and watches Oscar fight two defenders for position is so bad. Our guards need to drive the ball and find him in the lane and everyone should be moving to make the defense react.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Oscar clear out so our guards can get to the rim. Maybe use Oscar in some cutting action… anything is better than what Cal has been doing.

I agree and your right. But he'll have more then 2 more years to coach. If he wants he can coach well into his 80s here. No pressure and the conract, makes it that way.

They joined the forum 57 mins ago and have 1 post. That 1 post is bashing the only player that kept us from the NIT the last 2 years.

The ignore button was made for posters like that. Already added them to my list of trolls.

Your sarcasm meter seems broke. Might need to get that checked out HUH?

If he returns will he learn how to defend the pick and roll and how not to bring the ball down low in the post?

If not, he can leave for all I care.

He has put up huge scoring/rebounding numbers in two years and we have 1 SEC Tournament and 1 NCAA Tournament win.

Because he put up epic rebounding numbers. It's really that simple.

What did those accolades get the team? I can't wait to hear this!
You didn’t answer the question. How does someone that is not good in basketball sweep all 6 player of the year awards? I’ll help you out, it’s not for rebounds only. Learn the game before you open your pie hole.

Cal is the one who needs to move on,
Wish in one hand and shit in the other. See which one fills up first.

He will be the coach this season. Nothing anyone can do about it. What’s your opinion on the Oscar topic? I’ve moved on from pondering any sort of coaching change. I’m interested in what the roster will look like

You’re insinuating that Kentuckys success rests on Oscar’s shoulders alone and his production should equal wins. That’s wrong. We underachieved because we had shooters who couldn’t shoot, guards who couldn’t create, and too many kids who brought inconsistent effort. Plenty of blame to go around. But Oscar kept us in a lot of games. We won games on his back and that’s a fact.

I thought Kentucky fans were smart. Hmmmmm

There is another reality in play here. How much NIL money can KY get together? 5 Top 30 recruits are gonna need (and expect) nice paydays. Plus what appears to be $100k base for every scholly player.

Meaning, Oscar may have to take less if he wants to return. Or BBN is going to have to really pony up the difference.

NCAA needs a salary cap. LOL
