Card fans dreaming about Thon Maker

Wouldn't he have to ride the bench behind their current three 7-footers that they compare to Anthony Davis?

He didn't even mention UofL this past weekend in McCracken County when he was asked about schools. UK, IU (what, Crean must be selling his soul to get this kid...and maybe free cell phones again), and KU were mentioned.

He sold Maker's guardian by giving him 35 pairs of candy-pants.

I do love UL fans argument of some mis-perception that Rick's freshman don't get PT; it's reality guys, look how many UK FR played against UL and vice versa. And we have enough Sophomore players where non of new guys had to play so don't give me the "well UK has nothing but freshman".

Vonleh was only drafted top 10 because he had fingers longer than a baby's forearm.

They have to dream about something to carry them over

They seem to be begging for a good big man, despite already having one (Anas Mahmoud) who some of them compare to Anthony Davis as much as they do.

high level recruits see production, they see Rick's record with NBA players @ Louisville, and it puts off the idea that Louisville is where NBA dreams go to die. That's what L1C4 is about, right?
"Come play here for 4 years. Forget about your own aspirations of greatness, come make us good for 4 years, and when you graduate, you'll be content with what you did in your 4 years at Louisville while you're at your desk pushing papers for your boss, instead of making millions doing the thing that you've dreamed of doing for the better part of your life"

Yes, very appealing proposal. I'm absolutely perplexed as to why young, very talented basketball players don't enroll at Lulzville.

That is nowhere near palm-to-palm but they are bigass hands.

"Coaches like Cal tell kids they'll start, then move them to the bench in favor of The Next Big Thing. In other words, he lies to them.

Do recruits want to play for a proven liar or for one who tells them the truth. They earn their playing time in practice. It's true at every program, but certain coaches lie about it."

I have repeatedly heard players say that Cal was very honest with them and didn't promise them anything if they came to UK, yet almost all Card fans say and believe what this moron above says.

Crean offers every recruit autographed panties from his wife signed by her brother. That's how they do it in Indiana son.

LOL cal promises nothing, he's just not an ego maniac who would rather prove some stupid coaching point than let the best players play. Truth be told, Cal has beena smooth operator at UK. He had many problems while being at Memphis, and he had lots of problem players. But even a Memphis fan will tell you, if you end up in Cals doghouse, it could be a long time before you get out.

Cal treats them like professionals because that's what they basically are, or at least will be very soon. our players act how they are EXPECTED to act, and this is why if you want to be a professional and get the college experience at the same time, UK is the best place for that. It was the same way in the 90's. Pitino as a players coach at UK, and cal has become a players coach at UK; it's the kentucky Job being so big and national that you can do that. Rick doesn't have those options at louisville. thays why the philosophies changed so drastically when he went to the louisville.

Louisville wants players like thon maker. Ricks recruits these players all the time, but his brand in louisville isn't a great one for these caliber players. Louisville fans don't like that and take it out on us. They want it, badly, and since they can't get it, they make outlandish and childish insults at our teams. Essentially, nothing we do matters because it's a bunch of NBA players. It's completely ridiculous. Every program is built on the backs of their players. We just happen to be the choice of the "best of the best". It creates lots of butthurt in Louisville because they thought Rick was going to do that in louisilville.

People forget Rick was known for being a players coach and recruiter of top 25 guys at kentucky. He was an early version of cal. He kind of perfected the "2 and done" era.

No kentucky fan should ever say programs don't matter, only coaches do. That's complete bullchit in the worst way. Rick would give anything to take back leaving UK. That's in his mind for a reason, and he essentially said the reaon after our game against louisville.

Different kind of program.

Not one single recruit has ever said Cal promised him anything but yet you are right, that is the narrative. You have to love how all of our one and done's are hired mercenaries however they would sell their soul to get a player of Maker's caliber. No reason to believe that Maker himself would not be a one and done, unless of course he did in fact go to Louisville. The only one and done prospect Louisville had of recent time was Blackshear who will not get drafted after four years. Previous to him was Samuels who was the #1 high school center who went undrafted after two years of Pitino's tutelage.
