Can't Wait

I can’t wait for a new coach
I honestly would love to hear the coach you would replace Cal with. One that can step in from day one and bring in top recruits like Calipari does. We may not win the title every year but we are always put in a position to win it. So please tell me who can do those things……..? I guess people would rather develop players for four years and have a chance at winning instead of a chance every season.

I could name at least a dozen right off the top of my head that I could confidently say would do a better job at the university of kentucky than John Calipari is currently doing.

Here’s a list off the top of my head:

Oats
Musselman(not in love with him but he’d do better)
Drew
Lloyd
Hurley
Pearl
Bennett
Cronin
Pitino
McDermott
Miller
Beard
Buzz Williams
Dutcher
Sampson
Painter
Randy Bennett
Larranaga

And that doesn’t even include guys like Self, Few and Izzo that we’d have no chance of hiring.

Pretty simple. Usually a lurker, but just so tired of the pity party on here. It got to the point where there was no basketball talk to consume anymore.

Starting threads like this in hopes of an actual basketball conversation.
What sort of conversation are you looking for?

"Cow Purr Eeh is going to have a deep bench this year, everyone should be averaging 25-30 points per game!"

"With the game on the line, who do you want taking the last shot Canada or Brad?"

Last time I checked this isn't the Bloo Gras Knitting Club. If you want conversation then push for change where it matters.

I honestly can't wait to watch Edwards, Bradshaw, Dillingham, Wagner, Reed, Onyenso, Thiero, & whoever else joins.

My favorite player last year was Reeves (I hope he comes back) by far and if he leaves that sucks but there are also other things I want to see.

I want to see:

Edwards and that smooth lefty game, some of my favorite UK players of all time have been lefties. I think he's a difference-maker.

Bradshaw at the stretch 4 and protecting the rim, I think he might have some Cauley Stein-type plays.

Dillingham and that handle and quick release on shots, really never had that guy in my time as a fan (Harrow doesn't count)

Wagner, I want to see if he is that alpha competitor who could be a Brandon Knight type that just makes plays

Reed, his dad was one of my favorites and I want to see how his game translates to college (I think it will be better than a lot think)

Onyenso, I want to see if there is a Nick Richards skill jump that happens thanks to more PT

Thiero, I just love how he competes, think he could be a big surprise impact-wise

I know the sky is falling but I'm excited to see what these guys can do.
I want to see it as well, but it could be what we saw the last couple of years. If we struggle to shoot it is going to be a long year, I’m sure we will shoot well against Sister Mary’s but then will struggle against teams that are defensively better

Thank you for your input. That was insightful

Im not going into next season with any real expectations. A lot of unknowns depending primarily on freshman. If they can win the big ooc games, I’ll get some excitement going into SEC play. But we can’t dig ourselves in a seeding hole like last year blowing all the ooc games.

I will be curious to see how Wagner performs at this level. It feels like he’s been talked about on this board for a long time.

None of them are as good as Cal.

Let’s see your resume though. Maybe you are some kind of expert?

Yikes. That list makes me realize how much of a wasteland it is out there.

Who on that list if we hired them gets you pumped up?

Just for conversation.

I was wondering what #RuppRafters posters would choose from these hypothetical choice of teams, they would pick to start next season with, roster as of right now, today 5/25:

Not including carryovers, Onyenso and Thiero.

Team #1
Tshiebwe
Collins
Ware
Toppin
Livingston
Frederick
Reeves
Wallace
Wheeler
(All were or are eligible to come back to UK this next season)

Team #2
Bradshaw
Edwards
Shepherd
Dillingham
Wagner
TBD/ WO
TBD/ WO
TBD/ WO
TBD/WO

For my own reasons and IMO, I believe CC would pick Team #2........

Captain Hindsight and his three trusted companions, Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda.

Dear diary. Today I made a meme about John Calipari, I think the other internet cool kids liked it. I'm so edgy & clever. Talk to you soon.

PS: I'm gonna keep doing it over and over and over and over because that's all I have to add of value
What value do you add?

Not many if any of them get me pumped but they’d probably all do better than Calipari is doing at the moment. Oats has had Bama in the top 10 and run away with the sec title 2 of the last 4 seasons. And Lloyd has been a 1 seed and a 2 seed his first 2 seasons as a head coach.

Also if you hate that list…well…most if not all of those guys are doing better at LESSER programs than Cal is doing right now.

The SEC is going to be stacked.Tennessee,Texas AM,Alabama and Florida will all be top 25.Miss.State and Arkansas are knocking on the door.Auburn is going to be down a little but still a hard game at their place.Ole Miss is being underrated in my opinion.
It's going to be a battle every game in conference play
