Can We Overcone Fears Thursday Night?

All that GA talk bout how they were gonna whip us again didn't age well.

Sorry Fireplace GIF by South Park

This is definitely a winnable game, but not necessarily an easy one. I’m hoping the neutral court setting tips things a couple of points in our favor compared to our narrow escape on the road in that first meeting, but this is still a team capable of beating us if we don’t come in focused. I’m also hoping the chippy ending to that game doesn’t carry over, because the last thing we need is to get more beat up right now. If we can come out without any new injuries and with any kind of win no matter the margin, I’ll consider it a success.

Oklahoma - new to the SEC, coming to Catsville, against a UK coach that actually cares about the SEC and Kentucky. And they just played a game while we've been resting.

The Sooners will be manhandled and they should be the ones with fear tomorrow night. It's time they get the Kentucky welcome to the SEC.
This is the correct take. Unless we're way off from three this should be a 10+ point win.

As others have pointed out in other threads, we seem to win games we are not expected to win and lose some we shouldn't.
Probably comes down to shooting. OU was hot from 3 tonight. Have to hope they are not tomorrow or that we are equally hot. If we were totally healthy, I would really like our chances. Like them somewhat anyway.

If I’m not mistaken; we were 4-7 pt dogs to Duke, Gonzaga, MSU, Missouri and won. The games where were 2-7 pt favorites, seem to be the ones we lose (UGA, at Vandy, Clemson, Ohio state). Hope we take care of business against Oklahoma, though.

I hope Oklahoma stayed up late celebrating. I also hope Jeremiah lets the moment get to his head and that he plays horribly today. He still needs a little humility.

There were really no cake walk teams this year in the tourney...well..LSU, but here we are.
I expect Oweh and Garrison to get beat on mercilessly tonight.

But....it's that time of year. All these guys are one or 2 losses from season or college career over.second season starts tonight, third season coming shortly.

Roll on , Cats.

Well, Vanilla Ice Larry Bird was supposed to torch us last Sat and didn't. We get to play the 13 seed. If we just play our game and come out ready it's an easy win.

If we sleepwalk the first 10 minutes like we did against Missouri and Auburn it's going to be tough.

I thought Georgia should have switched to a zone as Oklahoma couldn't hit from the outside and Fears had too many drives to the basket. It seems teams feel like a Zone means they are somehow weak. Syracuse for many years got far in the NCAA tourney with not the greatest players using a zone. Just saying.....

Oklahoma hit 12 3s yesterday that would have been the wrong decision.

Andrew Carr played very tentatively against OU in Norman. He is pretty much all the way back now and they have no big forward to guard him in the lane. I believe Carr will be very productive tonight and lead the Cats to a good win.

We had Fears in for a visit I believe late. I wonder if he would be interested in coming closer to home next year. Big Portal option if he decides to jump in.

I don’t feel good about tonight's game.
Maybe it’s the baD results, left by the previous coach IDk. I just feel uneasy about winning the game.

GO Cats!

Good point except if they were hitting those 3's against man defense........and the open looks were because Fears could drive to the basket.
Yeah but zone they would have even more open looks. I get the Zone aspect some because fears isn’t a great shooter and you just say if he makes them he makes them.

Also a bit of zone should keep us from fouling. Want to get Butler into the 2nd in no foul trouble so he can concentrate on stopping Fears.
Amari got in early foul trouble as well in the 1st meeting.

yes. agreed. Jalon Moore was really giving all night long and he couldn't handle it in the end. I'd add that for him too. Both of them.

J. Fears is a heck of a player. He can get to wherever he wants on the court, and he gave us fits when we played at their place.
I think we slow him down just enough to win the game.

I hate losing any game, but I am almost OK with losing tonight and staying healthy for the tournament. Not gonna get a one, and the committee is gonna screw us anyway. Not worth it.

What was the spread in Norman?

He is a great player but every team from this point on will have someone that can go off. We just have to play solid defense and if someone gets 25 you can't let the rest of the team have their way too.
