Calipari today July 12 at Louisville Kroger 1 to 2:30 pm

He's a brave man, going out in public with all the hate he will be facing. I'm sure there will be a contingent of disgruntled fans from this site letting him know he should be packing his things and getting out of the Commonwealth. Maybe some folks can also stand and heckle anyone who wants his autograph and tell them how stupid they are for supporting him.

Come on, Mr. Moderator... derailing what should be a positive thread that everyone should have been on board with. ...at least for a few more posts. Tisk tisk.

You know what? I bet if there were hecklers there that were only disrupting and ruining everyone’s time there and generally making things toxic the moder….errr security would ba……errr escort them out. 😉

I read 6 posts into the thread about Cal giving money to a man with cancer and knew there is no hope of ever getting through a thread about Cal without it getting derailed. If it has to do with Calipari, he could be curing cancer and it wouldn't matter. If it is a positive, it must be counter-balanced with negativity. It can't be allowed to stand unopposed. In fact, if it's one positive thought, apparently it must be countered with at least 10 times as many negatives. I think the ratio is now standing at 10 to 1, which is actually an improvement over where it was.

Something tells me it would be 98% of people saying things as they walk away, out of ear shot. I just don't buy that most folks would have the guts to say anything like that. And that's kind of a good thing, in a way, because it says deep down, people are sane and not acting like lunatics.

I also think with some of the recent recruiting momentum a lot of the “Is Cal washed up?” talk has ebbed a bit. He’s still got some stuff left to prove but he’s definitely finishing up the off season strong.

Yes, if I'm being completely serious, I have to say that at least some of the talk has subsided. The recruiting has been really good this spring/summer. We have players returning next year who would have certainly been gone before, so that helps. Having a national player of the year returning for another season at Kentucky is a rare thing, indeed, so that has to help a little bit. And I really do understand some of the frustrations because I've been frustrated with the results the last 2 years for sure. The irritating part for me is that for some it is absolutely non-stop. They sing one note, monotone and on repeat. I also agree that I don't think even the most extreme posters here would say to Calipari's face the things they say here. People don't mind being brutal so long as they can remain anonymous.

100%. No one would say a single bad word to him. Easy to talk big through a keyboard.

nah, UK fans didn’t even act that way with Tubby. He should have been fired and many people realize the contract is holding him in; but we’re UK fans from birth. It is what it is.

This is a message board where people can post their frustrations with his failures. I’ve been in front of Calipari numerous times since his downfall, and I just told him we appreciate you.

He needs to take a trip to Mayfield where I can drive up from Tennessee. With everything they’ve been through I have no idea why he’s not planning that one.

Threats are a sign of the times and a couple wackos there would not surprise me.

Dont you support people being heckled outside of their homes and ran out of establishments? I thought you kind of supported threats to families of people who disagree? am I confusing you with someone else? I don’t think I am but if I am, I apologize James.

I will say any true fan wants better results from what we've experienced the last few years. However I have great hope in that we seen a team playing as good as any we've had in the Cal era before injuries derailed it. I also see a man that has changed his philosophy with more emphasis on shooting and skill over the uber athlete only type we had for several years. The changes from top to bottom in his support staff makes me believe Cal is putting the program in position to be successful and compete for titles starting this year. It's time for results now.

How about he do his job and win basketball games at the university of Kentucky? You know we could be doing that and you wouldn’t have to divert from the real problem and try and use sarcasm to prop him up.

His job is to perform. He hasn’t performed. You’re not making any sense, at least to those of us who realize what’s really going on.

His job isn’t to cure cancer, strawmans aren’t going to work, and he’s going to be help accountable one way or the other for underperforming while the other blue bloods catch us. You don’t have to like it man, but it’s going to happen anyway.

Everyone supported Calipari until he began to lose at UK. It’s strictly about winning and losing with most. For others; it’s About not being able to let go of what we were when he started. It’s as simple as that.

I can 100% get on board with that except for injury excuses. Every team has them. But I definitely agree with the rest. I hope he has changed his approach and it’s time for results.

I won't/wouldn't go, and if you are disgruntled you shouldn't either.

Grom those frustrations have nbeen expressed many ways and many times so everyone pretty much knows how everyone else feels. IL cat is right. It’s ok have positive threads as well and if someone doesn’t feel that way then don’t read it.

Hope Cals feeling good bout the upcoming season. Also hope he knows that we don't wannabe let down that early again. Go Cats!!

I've never understood grown people asking someone for an autograph

So if Michael Jordan was around you wouldn’t ask for it? Or someone really famous like Elvis or Brady?

Fans ask for autographs of people they like or are famous.

It’s usually not just about the autograph either. It’s a memento of a time you had a fun or memorable experience.

Why’d do people get such a stick up the backside about this?

It’s about both to me. He has to be a good steward of the program on and off the court. I always felt that when Pitino got caught in his 15 seconds of shame he should’ve been fired from UofL. Yes a coaches job is to win. But if he makes your university or organization look really bad? He’s not going to be around long especially in the overconnected times we live in. And some of that is good. You don’t want a sex fiend running your ship. Or a coke head leading young men. But if you have a saint who can’t win you ballgames he’s not going to be around long either. You have to and SHOULD be expected to do both. And honestly, that’s really not a lot to ask to be fair.

Win games, be a decent human.

I would never ask anyone for an autograph. I get why people do but it’s not my thing. I really don’t get buying an autograph someone else got. I’m also not a collector. Last thing I collected was mining company stickers in grade school.

To each his own. But I’m not a huge autograph guy either. But if I met somebody really famous, I probably would ask, if nothing else as a conversation piece.

The only autograph I got was Joe B Hall's. My Dad was a fan and he was at a high basketball game. This was over 10 years ago.

Don’t mention the King in the same sentence as Brady.😀

An obvious troll account is what set the tone in that thread you’re referring too. Look at the guys posting history under the Snow Leopard account. The guy literally has a recent post that says, “ I like to blame Calipari for everything.” That post in that thread you’re talking about, he coldly posts “I’d never donate money to someone that brought Cal here.” Its not even debatable for someone to try to convince me the guys a real UK fan if anyone looks at the post history.

A lot of these threads lately, it’s the new or fairly new accounts that purposely ruin the majority of these threads. You’ll have real fans that are disgruntled for whatever reasons ( I’m not saying I agree with their opinions) that are guilty of doing that as well. I’m not naive enough to think they are all fake fans. Every team regardless of sport has bad fans and I’ll agree some of this stuff by that crowd can be inexcusable.

Look how often that the accounts you all have to eventually ban, pretend to like Cal and the team but then make it a point to do whatever it takes to get arguments started. They make it to obvious, heck they pretty much make multiple posts that imply “Cal is perfect and 99.9 % of UK fans are dumb.” I feel sorry for you and other mods for having to deal with that kind of kiddish behavior. Theirs no way to combat things like that when they get banned and keep coming back here. Heck the one that gives you all the most trouble, I was on here one day you all banned him awhile back and his last message said “Go Tarheels”.

People still don’t understand.

Calipari being a class act doesn’t have to detract from being a great coach

Calipari could have been the greatest college basketball coach ever. He had the players, or the ability to get the players, and the resources, and the greatest fan base.

He simply did not want it.

He wanted to get paid. Once he got paid, he lost all drive of being the best

Can’t believe those people are okay with 9-16 and St. Peter’s. I’d only go to offer Cal to fix his treadmill and buy his first six months of Nutrisystem.
