What he should have been doing at the beginning of the season and all season long is building a successful, cohesive team, with or without naming captains and instilling a winning ATTITUDE in them. Instead, they are fragile, injury prone, and not even making it to practice all of the time, according to Calipari. My observation is that Calipari is not in the right place emotionally or professionally to steer this team in a way that motivates them towards excellence. They should be laser focused on winning this game without all of the usual drama surrounding Calipari's teams. It almost seems like a regurgitation of the same spiel that fans are hearing every year before the NCAA - "Calipari has to rebuild their confidence, a lack of motivation in some players, has to take away their phones, they are listening to outside voices and not to him...."
For once, I would love to hear that this team is locked in and ready to go to battle and WIN the National Championship. That is what every program should reflect and what KY used to convey. He has the talent to win games in the tourney but, from what I am seeing, he is still struggling with internal issues or maybe his own lack of interest. If he is not into winning, he needs to move on and UK needs to move on from him and get a coach who is motivated to win games and not just create millionaires. Sorry but, I am getting too old to have to sit through another effortless, scared performance because the coaches are caught up in drama and putting out fires instead of building a winning team. I am ready to move on.
