Cal here six more years

Suppose that is fair. I am from Kentucky but northern part and have had folks from southern part of state call me a Yankee which I never really understood.
Typically people from the 3 northern counties and from jefferson county are considered ''midwestern'' due to their close proximity to Ohio and Indiana. I'm from Barren County which is right on the TN border. Not many people are further down in KY than me. It's very southern down here.

any hint of a timetable for leaving would kill recruiting

then that limits options for him and is bad form, especially if you don't have a coach in waiting

This is what I’ve been SCREAMING since all of the talk about him bowing out early started last season. There is NO WAY IN _ELL he was EVER going to walk away from $9 million/year, I don’t care how much all of us complain.

Unfortunately Cal knows he has Mitch, the fans and the entire UK Basketball program under his thumb with that RIDICULOUS lifetime contract. This interview was done to flip the DOUBLE BIRDS at all of us.

SAD
I started following UK Basketball with Coach Rupp and Cotton Nash. I will turn 70 this coming basketball season. At this point in my life I hold on to the thrill of being blessed to go to Memorial Coliseum. Don’t let anybody tell you there was a better basketball venue. I am as devastated to hear his statement…his announcement is equivalent to one of my best friends dying. The day UK basketball died.

Its like finding out the home you've been trying to sell has mold and radon so you'll have to take if off the market and pay out the mortgage after all.

Unfortunately, it died about 5 years ago with the "lifetime" contract. It has been downhill ever since, and really doubt next year will be any better come end of the season....

Hey baller
Baller must have gotten under the sink and huffed cleanser as a toddler...mental defectoid.

I have always wondered what the fanbase's perception of Cal would be if instead of going to 4 Final Fours in his first six years, spread them out so it is 1 Final Four every 3 years. Now to be consistent, he would still only have the one title at UK. Just curious if our mindset as a whole would be different.
Wouldn’t make any difference if anyone watched the last 3 years of this train wreck. UK is a joke right now and the entire country knows it. We’ve went from getting guys like Wall, Davis, Randle, Booker, Etc to “depending“ on transfers like Grady, Reeves, CJ and Wheeler.
Cal is/has always been what we were told he was when he came here - a snake oil salesman. He literally has no “real” coaching ability, just depended on supreme athletes out “talenting” the other team.
Once those types of athletes stopped coming here, we’ve been a complete non factor in anything.
Next years class “might be” good enough to win a lot of games despite Cal’s lack of coaching ability, but I doubt it and they certainly won’t go far in the tourney.

He just stole some hearts that thought their frenzy on the internet was applying pressure......

I don't think anyone thinks what they say in message board will change anything. They are venting because we have been so bad lately, which is to be expected unless you are a moron. Now, people not going to games, that is an entirely different matter. If next season starts off sucking, attendance will do all the talking.

I was born there (Barren).

If we made the final four in 17 and 19 and missed in 11 and 14, there is no doubt in my mind the perception would be different.

You take what he says with a grain of salt. I mean this isn't new.
That being said despite the wishes of many UK fans, I've yet to see any indication that Cal is leaving anytime soon lol.

He might want to stay, but if the performance of his teams doesn't get any better, he will be shown the door before 6 years for sure.
I can just imagine the circus Rupp would become if he really tried that. I guess it would be ok if he finishes strong. But if its anything like the last 3 years,oh boy. The signs and chanting at Rupp will turn into next level type of stuff..Plus you would have Matt J with his fam base enraged by then. Im not sure Cal would want to put himself or his family through something like that.
