Soooo you know what Cal is thinking and what his recruiting plans are? How? Are you in Cal's inner circle if trust? We are starting to recruit Allen heavy because Cal knows Giles is going to Duke. Allen is not a backup plan in case Giles goes to Duke. Allen is the plan.
Well....Cal still thinks there's a shot. I doubt he'd take the time in his super crazy schedule to waste his time to be at Giles 1st game unless he thinks there is a legit shot.
Capel was a guard, what does he being to the table with bigs? What's interesting is that it was mentioned by a Duke friend of mine that Duke people say Giles favorite coach is out of K and Cal--is Cal. Giles family really likes Jeff Capel though and Capel has helped the Duke recruiting and emphasis on getting bigs immensely. Harry is not wanting to be a 5--so you better have a 5 man to sell to him if you're Duke--and I am sure Chase Jeter is what they're saying--although trying to land Bolden is a factor as well.
UK--they'll have Humphries, and several guys capable of playing the 5 in college (Wynyard), but to me--UK is hanging in--but recruited as if they know he's Duke bound--Sacha Killeya Jones. All UK needs to do is land Monk to go with Fox and you have Gabriel--who has some of the highest ceiling in '16 class, and if you get another--great. Bam would be my pick--but tough road to climb albeit others telling him to go to UK--but advisors/handlers really like NCSU and if not him--I like Allen best--but that's due to his potential and versatility over Bolden more traditional game offensively and lack of toughness defensively and on boards.

Capel has brought value of big men to attention of Coach K/Duke program. When Wojo was there--the top big men wouldn't even give Duke a sniff. Capel was able to keep Blake Griffin in Norman when there, and basically he/Jon Scheyer have rejuvenated the recruiting in the Duke program--which was stale. Capel for instance has ties with Jeff Webster (former OU player) and that is why Marques Bolden is considering them. He has also coached their bigs as role-and as I'm sure you know--coaching isn't about what position or how great of a player you were-it's about knowing talent and working hard to improve/develop it. To me, Kenny Payne is best in country at doing this--UK bigs get better over course of a season/career if staying longer.
