With his decision coming in 11 days, is this a period where cal can reach out to him for last minute recruiting or only if Giles reaches out to him? Or no more communication?

I hear from a source, K just called him and calls him daily. (He's a friend and not recruiting Giles....) After all he's been to his birthday party a couple times at least.

We are starting to recruit Allen heavy because Cal knows Giles is going to Duke. Allen is not a backup plan in case Giles goes to Duke. Allen is the plan.

Giles is going to Duke. It's always been an NC school. Had we signed Tatum, then perhaps we might have had a chance.

What's interesting is that it was mentioned by a Duke friend of mine that Duke people say Giles favorite coach is out of K and Cal--is Cal. Giles family really likes Jeff Capel though and Capel has helped the Duke recruiting and emphasis on getting bigs immensely. Harry is not wanting to be a 5--so you better have a 5 man to sell to him if you're Duke--and I am sure Chase Jeter is what they're saying--although trying to land Bolden is a factor as well.

UK--they'll have Humphries, and several guys capable of playing the 5 in college (Wynyard), but to me--UK is hanging in--but recruited as if they know he's Duke bound--Sacha Killeya Jones. All UK needs to do is land Monk to go with Fox and you have Gabriel--who has some of the highest ceiling in '16 class, and if you get another--great. Bam would be my pick--but tough road to climb albeit others telling him to go to UK--but advisors/handlers really like NCSU and if not him--I like Allen best--but that's due to his potential and versatility over Bolden more traditional game offensively and lack of toughness defensively and on boards.

If news breaks of Harry and Cal talking again, or Cal making another trip to Oak hill then I will think we a chance, albeit a small. I believe Cal and Co are selling in Harry not playing the 5 at UK, or playing positionless basketball. You and I both know regardless what Duke is selling he will be a 5, with tatum being the focus of the offense, IMO. I have you the same as the poster above, that Harry prefers Cal to K.

Personally, I don't even think about Giles coming to UK. If he does, I will be completely shocked.

Soooo you know what Cal is thinking and what his recruiting plans are? How? Are you in Cal's inner circle if trust?
So many people said Cal ONLY recruited Humphries because he thought Skal might not be cleared by the NCAA. Well those people were wrong but, just like you, they made those statements like they know exactly what Cal is thinking.
So is this your belief or a fact?

So Drew Franklin pretty much gaurentees Giles to Duke. Makes sense since we are now making Allen a priority.

Well....Cal still thinks there's a shot. I doubt he'd take the time in his super crazy schedule to waste his time to be at Giles 1st game unless he thinks there is a legit shot.

I'm guessing there's nothing to lose for him going after Giles. If you think about it, our class is pretty set if we get Fox and Monk. We are likely to have some returnees, and if they can improve we'll be amazing.

Giles can make this class EFFING epic. Why not go for it.

Capel was a guard, what does he being to the table with bigs?

Capel has brought value of big men to attention of Coach K/Duke program. When Wojo was there--the top big men wouldn't even give Duke a sniff. Capel was able to keep Blake Griffin in Norman when there, and basically he/Jon Scheyer have rejuvenated the recruiting in the Duke program--which was stale. Capel for instance has ties with Jeff Webster (former OU player) and that is why Marques Bolden is considering them. He has also coached their bigs as role-and as I'm sure you know--coaching isn't about what position or how great of a player you were-it's about knowing talent and working hard to improve/develop it. To me, Kenny Payne is best in country at doing this--UK bigs get better over course of a season/career if staying longer.

This is exactly right. Couldn't of been worse timing for Orlando to leave us. Duke gets rid of their bummy assistants and bring in good ones that can recruit with anyone and we lose our ace recruiter. Cal is the best head coach recruiter in all of basketball but it's the assistants that do all the leg work to set that up and Orlando was the best in the country bar none.

Yahoo has an article IRT to Duke and there's a statement claiming that Duke's recruiting class next year will be the best in a decade. I highly doubt it.... However, I'm going to be really pissed off if Duke somehow runs the table next year.
