We have open scholarships every year. It does Cal no good to see EJ leave and go undrafted. None.
To recruit a kid like EJ for example, he is being recruited by Cal to come to UK as a stepping stone to the glory of the NBA. He believes it, his family believes it his friends believe it. He is sold a bill of goods that may or may not play out in the real world. Then when his stock is not what he was sold that it would be, he becomes a failure if he does not head to the NBA. Friends laugh, family sees the meal ticket with disdain. Also, if the player has any awareness at all, he knows next year Cal has another can't miss prospect lined up to move into the players position.
