Which raises a couple of questions:

How?

And what the hell has happened?

I'm going to have faith that those numbers, which I have no reason to doubt, are indicative of what he's likely to do, but daaaaamn, his FT stroke is fugly right now.

It's in his head right now . I'm confident he will work it out.

He was trying to force it in on most of those tonight.

He needs to relax and just follow through his usual motion.

Yes after 2 meaningless exhibitions it's time to start panicking about Briscoe's FT shooting. Poor guy has no time to improve.

It's all mental. It's in his head right now. Notice he sank a 3 from the corner right after he bricked those last 2 freethrows. He'll be fine. I'm not worried.

I wouldn't worry about his freethrow shooting too much. Like someone else said already, right after missing 2 freethrows he comes back and hits a contested 3 from the corner. He is probably thinking about hitting his freethrows a lil too much right now. Give him a month or so and i bet his % is fine from the line. His spin move he seems to pull off about 2 or 3 times a game is a thing of beauty. He just needs to finish with that move now.

My guess is conditioning -- you get a lot stronger very quickly, and the ball feels different in your hands. He'll figure it out.

For anyone that plays golf, Briscoe shooting a free throw right now looks like a putter with the yips. Rather than just taking a normal, smooth shooting stroke something is causing him to "yip" make a rushed jerking motion. It is completely mental. That is why his shots during normal game play look fine, the problem is only when he is concentrating on it at the free throw line.

I think it is completely mental, so it could fixed in the next game or could last all season. I believe he will work on a good pre-shot routine and shooting thought and get this fixed soon.

Briscoe will be fine. Too good of form and soft touch for me to ever get worried about it.

Agree. Background at Rupp is just a little different and he will adjust to it. Probably thinking about it too much right now. Once he gets comfortable, he will be fine.

Yupp, it's all depth perception, which he will eventually adjust to. Shooting in Rupp is a far cry from shooting in a high school gym. That's why FG percentages drop in massive domes (football stadiums) during the tourney too.
