Brea now 15 of 19 from 3 pt range

I believe a lot on here give @HerrosHeroes a hard time. I've read people say he's not a UK fan. He's a troll. His predictions suck. I mean, really, who cares? You guys don't have to read it. Sure he has some out there takes about the program, but I like his enthusiasm and optimism. So what if they aren't realistic FTMP. He hasn't hit realist fan status yet and that's ok. Of course this take can come back to bite me, but what can one expect? Most of us on here don't know each other anyway. I don't have time to break down and dissect if someone has an "internet persona". Those type folks are out there for sure. But if you don't REALLY know that person, are you positive those claims are valid? I'm kind of rambling on here to say that @HerrosHeroes doesn't bother me one bit. He's got stuff to say, no matter how out there it may be. This is a message board full of people that are not alike. Far be it from me to judge someone I truly don't know.

Ive told them a gazillion times:
I was born in Ky
Raised in Ky
3rd Generation UK Fan
My Mom was preg with me during the watershed Texas Western/Kentucky final in 1966 (PS she told me her and my Grandpa cried themselves to sleep that night).
She also told me that game branded me as a UK fan for life.
I can also remember in 1980 listening with her to Cawood as Macy missed the last shot that would have beat Duke in the NCAAT in Rupp (she immediately flung herself back on to the bed and started crying. )That left a deep impression on a 13 yr old boy.
But yeah Im a troll..

Ive got more UK fandom in my little toe than most on here have in their entire bodies. I think thats why they hate on me so much.

:flush:

Good post.

But I think what bothers some, is when they make a prediction that isn't UK winning big, or they try to temper expectations, HH attacks them, or at least appears to, he might just be trying to be positive, but it comes off like he's chastising them.

But hey, so far HH has been right with his predictions, so I'll give credit where it’s due.

If you look at the NCAA stat leaders, Brea is 1st in 3pt%, but he is one of 3 guys (minimum of 2.5 made per game) making over 70%, and one of 10 making over 60%.

Of course not. I believe 100 data points are required to have a 95% confidence level in the data. But I'm not a statistical guru LOL.

Once we get into league play, we're going to see athletic teams with size really focus on taking our three point shooting away like duke was doing. They're going to limit those open looks, so Brea will probably get sped up some. His percentage will surely drop a bit.

None of those SEC teams will be any tougher on the defensive end than Duke as the Devils are #1 in defensive efficiency, #13 in Off eff and ranked #4 overall in Kenpom.
UK hit their 1st 5 threes of the gm v the Devils and finished 10 of 25 for 4o% away from Rupp too.
Just think how all these upperclassman that have never played together, never played in Pope’s system and Pope having never coached but two of them (Rob and maybe Chandler not sure because of his 2 yr sabbatical) continuing to gel and just get better and better as the long season rolls on!
Be prepared for more of the same alllll yr!

Of course it will drop. No player in history that shot as many 3s as Brea will shoot in a season ever finished with the crazy % he has so far. OP is a troll. Been confirmed 100s of times.

UK shot only what, 24 threes in that game? Not the 35 they want to shoot. Brea shot an airball in that game too.

Yeah and went 2 of 3 from three after that.
Keep trying.
Dude was 2 of 4 from 3 v the top defensive team in America. What do you think he is going to do v all these over rated football schools, as UK continues to gel and perform in the new Pope system?
Exactly.

Imagine when it happens... Not if....

But WHEN we collectively shoot something like 40+ threes in a game.... And make 25, or even 30?

These guys are having fun and are capable. I can't wait to see them absolutely scorch the nets in a game like that.

The thought also occurred to me, it might happen later in the season, and we tighten things up defensively too, and pair a shooting game like that with a defensive gem.

I'd love to see another one of those 101-40 shellacking, say like that Tennessee game ?😉

Craziest stat so far this year:

Kobe Brea went 5/8 last night.

His 3 point % droped.
Now it means if he missed his next 21 threes, he’d still be at 50%. I don’t see that happening. He could legit finish the season at 60% or better.

You're not following what I'm saying and I'm not "trying" anything.
Not sure what your deal is here, but the facts are right there in front of you, our numbers against Duke are much different than they are against the mid majors.
Power 5 teams have biger, faster, better players and they are going to guard us tougher on the perimeter.
That doesn't mean I'm UK hating (weird stretch by you), it means I'm stating something that is obvious and true. Brea isn't going to shoot 75% the entire season. Again, I'm not "trying" anything and I'm not crapping on the Cats.
Take a break man.

4 gms

Thats basically 4 made threes a game on basically 5 att a game..

If he makes his next 3 he will be shooting 80% from 3 on 20 attempts.

That has to be the greatest start from 3 in UK history!!!!
Brea has been phenomenal, to say the least. We are shooting 42.3% from three as a team, so far, and 35.3 if you take Brea’s 20/27 out of the calculation. Still pretty good from the rest …

you need the break and you started the negativity. Dont tell me what to do either.
Dont get angry because i schooled you, just accept the fact that you are going to be wrong in your judgment and I pointed out why too.
Take all that negativity over to the U of L board.
Positive thinking; learn some and stop barking up my big blue tree!

I had no idea there were 4 players over 70 percent, or that Brea was just barely in the lead. Wow. He does have significantly more attempts though, so we will see if those other guys stay with him.

True, but we have so many weapons, they can't really employ the strategy WNBA teams use against Clark. He will still see plenty of open looks, and so far he isn't taking bad shots.

What the hell??? Negative??? What did I say that was negative???
You "schooled" me??? How?…… When?

Please tell me which of these are "negative".

1) SEC teams have more size and athleticism than the mid major programs we have been playing

2) SEC teams are going to try to prevent UK from shooting so many 3's

3) Duke limited our three point shooting with size, length and athleticism

4) Brea did shoot an airball in the Duke game

5) SEC teams will speed our shooters up

Those are facts, not negativity. I'm not sure what your deal is, at best, you have a reading comprehension problem.

Oh I agree, this is an incredibly well designed offense and Pope recruited perfectly to it. These players fit his system unbelievably well.

Not only that, but there aren't many teams in the country that have Dukes size and athleticism.

But, playing SEC teams, especially on the road, is a whole lot more difficult than playing the 350th ranked team at home. Power 5 teams are really going to start to body KB, JR, OO and Almonor and get themm out of their comfort zone. Or at least they should.
