So let me see, your argument is A. If things had been different in the Duke game we would have lost by 15 or 20 points and based on the fact we WON our only meeting, Duke would win 8 of 10 if we played more. What utter DRIVEL.
The Duke game was played and won by usno, ifs,buts, candy and nuts.
B. Since we won all our games shooting threes by high scores we will not be able to compete in coming rock fights. This is based on what: we haven't been in a rock fight yet. How do you know how we will play in one. Did it ever occur to you we might have a team that can actually dictate the pace and intensity of play, unlike the majority of Cals team. We have 6 seniors on our team. Why wouldn't they not be able to compete in a physical rock fight, unlike the infants Cal repeatedly in suck games.
Your whole primise is shabby and not based on what we have seen.
Let's face it, early polls and early season suppositions are not great indicators of two main things, how really good a team is compared to the rest of college basketball and where we will ultimately finish at season's end. From my knowledge and perspective, with a pinch of bias and guesswork, I do think we are a very difficult team to guard that runs a pretty efficient offense. We can score from all three levels. We do need to improve some as a team on both ends, especially defensively.
Fundamentally, we show a lot of acumen as you would expect from our fifth-year seniors. We have rugged guards, all can pass effectively, can catch well, and can absorb hits in traffic and finish. We are versatile and can defend down low. We play decent defense that is made tougher by the fact we are so damn good offensively -- it is tougher to shoot and score when you know Kentucky is so good offensively per possession. That alone ratchets up the pressure to score from anywhere, especially long range. Many teams we play -- maybe all -- will struggle with our experienced players.
My best guess at this point is a wild one, but based on the fact that I think we're better than our last six or seven teams, and maybe better than the Fox/Monk team. I love what this group can do in many phases of the game, and we'll only get better. When we play Arkansas on Feb 1, I think we'll be 18-2, and I predict we will be at them if we have the team then that we have now (injuries). That ought to be good enough for a top ten team at that point, and we'll know by then that there is a great chance to be in the Final Four. Right now, if you asked do we have to pieces to go that far, I would say unequivocally yes. From there, who knows. From what I saw tonight out of a sputtering, lumbering Arizona, they're not even close to us. I could go in great detail as to why I think we're really good, but you get the point. As a fan, this is the very best ride we've had in a long time.
I'm not sure whether to take this post seriously or not. My first answer is to just enjoy this team and this season, take it as it comes. Be glad we've got a coach who thinks winning is what it's all about and he's not gonna let his players be satisfied with anything less.
I would also use tonight's Arizona and Duke game to make a couple arguments. Duke was our biggest win and it's still their only loss. Arizona was playing at home and coming off a tough loss in a true road game at Wisconsin. They entered the game averaging 93ppg as a team, but Duke held them to 55. This was Duke's first true road game and we all know they have freshmen as significant players. But they controlled that game vs Arizona most of the way and ended up winning by 15. I say all of that to say- Kentucky's win over Duke is much more impressive than we knew even then. This Duke team is very good, maybe even a title contender.
Having said this, I'm done attempting to convince Henny Penny that the sky isn't falling. Just watch and enjoy these games. I think this group is gonna be IN every game and have a chance to win. We will probably lose some along the way, but this team is a legit top 10 team without a doubt in my mind.

On the off chance this isn’t a straight troll job, I think I see what’s happening here. This is a person with an oft broken heart who is afraid of munching on Nick Saban’s rat poison for fear of rekindled heartbreak.
Who knows if this team is actually the #9 best team in the country right now? More importantly, who cares? There are plenty of tests coming that will determine that. Polls are totally meaningless in November anyway UNLESS you aren't beating at least some of the better teams you face. That has been our problem the last few years.
