After watching the last 3 days and nights of basketball, it is glaringly obvious that Kentucky will have to bring in more athletic players and Pope is clearly doing that. The teams that are winning are not just good shooters, but they are crazy athletic. They are fast, quick, leapers, and defensive juggernauts. This is going to be a very interesting season with lots more surprises to come.

Garrison, Butler, Oweh and Chandler are athletic. This is the least talented team Pope will ever have and yet I still think pieces are there to do some special things. The biggest decider will be whether or not we can be a top 15 defense.
They are athletic, but it was clear during last night's game that WKU was even more so. What we have seen today has been no less.

Meh we spotted then #6 Duke a 10 pt 2nd half lead on neutral court and still won.
Duke played #1 Kansas toe to toe and won out in Arizona.
I like my team.
I have said nothing but good things about our team, but the truth is the truth. We cannot always count on an inexperienced coach asking for too much from a 17-year-old freshman. My comments don't mean that we won't win, but it does mean that we need more athleticism.

West Va is not more athletic than we are and they just took Gonzaga down. Shooting, defense and experience trumps all IMO.

I would argue that Kentucky’s backcourt is as athletic and as good defensively as any in the country. More importantly, this team may be the most intelligent and experienced in the NCAA.
Kentucky is second to no one right now.

I am not sure if you know the definition of athleticism if you don't think WVU is more athletic. Clearly they are.

Well, they didn't put their athleticism on display last night. That is all I got to say about that. Lol

Thee grass is always greener on the other side for some of these people. Sounds like the dude that said we had no chance against Duke

There might be some who are as big a UK fan as I am but I can assure you that they are not bigger fans. However, with that said, my eyes have not been lying to me from what I have seen over the past few days and nights.

That's one game. They did against Duke didn't they. How did Gonzaga do today?Geez, step back from the ledge
Some of you folks are such snowflakes that you can't handle anything that doesn't include that we are great like no other. I am not going to participate any further in a silly argument like this because you and some others are trying to make way more out of my comment then should be made. Have a good evening.

You need glasses if you think ll these teams are better than us. Just because they are good games? Maybe we can trade teams with W. Virginia then since they are so athletic

We are athletic enough to do a lot of damage this year. We have been as talented and athletic as a team can be the last 5 years and it hasn’t made that much difference as far as beating good teams. I remember when we were wishing we had some shooters and now we do and it’s making a difference. The 3 players we have signed for next year with maybe Wilson upgrades the athleticism part of it. Pope knows what we need and will get it done, I’m exited to see what we can do this year with the start we have and we are only going to get better.

In my post I clearly stated that Pope was increasing the team's athleticism.

We got lucky their big guy got fouled out. He was killing us. Now imagine a team like Kansas who has one of the best bigs in the country and several behind him. LMD is right. We are going to have to play much better than last night when we play teams like Kansas. They have seen what aggressive, athletic and hardnosed(some would say hacking) defense has done to our shooting and they will employ the same tactics as long as the refs let them.

In the future, we have to have more quickness, length and explosiveness, with good shooting to keep up. Pope understands that. He is working on it. However when those guys get here, they have to hit the weights. Kansas’ team looked like body builders too.

Lots of parity. I'm starting to think about a dozen teams could win it all. In reality it's probably only 4 or 5.
One seeds may all have 5 losses though.

Yeah, this is my thought. As we've seen already, the NIL/open transfer era has led to a greater equalization of talent. There's going to be lots of teams in the mix for the title by the end of the season IMO.

Even if you are athletic, you still have to play well against a Kansas though. Duke might be the most athletic team in the country and still lost to KansASS and that was without Dick Hunter for part of the game.

I agree that Pope will have a lot more talent at his disposal after this year! But I've been thinking. Would I trade butler for lewis? Oweh for Johnson?

After watching duke Kansas game, I again saw freshman being exposed. So I'm leaning more and more on having your star players being older. Late game situations experience seems to be the way to go..

I hear you, but which team are you talking about exactly? Kansas is the #1 team in the country. We both beat Duke. We beat them by a larger margin than they did, both on a neutral court, less than two weeks apart.

There is NOT only one way to win basketball games. Seems we are doing just fine, compared to supposedly the best team in the country.
