AP Poll: Duke #4, Cats #5

They can do whatever they want.

There's just no logical thought process to put Duke ahead of UK.

Kentucky has 1 loss. Duke has 2. Kentucky owns the head to head.
Kentucky lost to #16. On the road.
Duke lost to #5 and #10. Both were neutral. No road losses to give them that excuse.

Kentucky has two wins over top 10 teams.
Duke has one.

I don't agree with it but I can see the argument as Duke beat the best team in America on prime time tv.

What's more of a injustice is Kansas only slipping 9 after getting destroyed by two unranked teams in a week.

This. Idc that Duke is 1 spot ahead of us. It's our own fault. But I'm not too stressed about them being ahead of us. We're still top 5 when 3 months ago we didn't think that'd happen at all this year.

We take care of business the rest of the year and we can be top 3 heading into a big match up with a good Florida team in January.

I agree UK should be ahead of Duke. Kansas beat Duke in Vegas

I agree with a lot of your post, but definitely not this part. It may be our fault that we aren't ranked even higher, but absolutely not our fault that there are people who are that ignorant and/or biased to jump duke ahead of us.

#3 Iowa State plays at Iowa this week. And #4 Marquette plays at Dayton. Those will be two tough games.

Tennessee plays at Miami and at ranked Illinois. Auburn plays at Ohio State.

We could move up another notch or two next week.

Isn't the UT vs Miami game on a neutral court? Doesn't matter really, Miami is awful.
But Illinois might get em.

One thing nobody is talking about is North Carolina, 4 losses already and they had to fight like crazy to beat G-Tech in Chapel Hill on Saturday. Armando Bacot hid a lot of flaws and they got a FF out of it, now they're stuck with Hubert Davis for the foreseeable future. Ouch.

Really thought they were going to be tough this year.

Our fault that we lost I meant. Don't lose and we're number 1. Lose and it opens up inconsistency in interpretations. Top 5 is still great considering we lost to an unranked opponent (they're underrated, but still).

This is why I say the polls are irrelevant. Its hard to take them serious when you rank Duke ahead of UK. UK has one less loss and beat Duke head to head.

Duke and Gonzaga are better wins than auburn and Kansas to me as well (it's very close but Kansas appears overrated).
They lost to Kansas.
They're best wins are Auburn at home, @Arizona and @Louisville. Good wins, but besides the Auburn win, I'm not impressed.
Hopefully Clemson beats duke when they get them at home.
The ACC is so bad, duke will be able to hide. They'll stay in the top 10 the rest of the year.

I looked at the top 10, seeing who have they beaten (specifically in the top 25 now), and who have they lost to.

Rank - Beaten, Lost to
#1 - NA & NA
#2 - beaten 3 & 15, lost @4
#3 - beaten 6 at home, lost to 2
#4 - beaten 2 at home, lost to 5 & 10
#5 - beaten 4 & 8, lost @16
#6 - beaten 11 & 20, lost @3
#7 - beaten 15, lost @11 & to 12
#8 - NA, 5 & unranked team
#9 - NA, NA
#10 - beaten 4 & 21, lost to two unranked teams

You could justify moving UT down, but they do pass the eye-test.
I don't see how you don't move UK and Marquette ahead of Duke.
Marquette has a decent argument to go ahead of UK.
I suppose Florida is passing the eye-test.

Strong chance Duke becomes #1 soon. Tennessee plays at Illinois this week. Auburn plays Ohio State, which they should beat but it isn’t a gimme and then goes into brutal SEC play soon. Iowa State plays at Iowa this week. Duke plays Incarnate Word and then cupcakes before their cupcake ACC schedule. Moral of the story, mentally prepare for Duke to be #1 for awhile, very real possibility

This. UConn is going WTf? Granted it was THREE unranked teams for them but two of those were like 1 point losses.

As usual. Uninformed AP voters kissing that Duke and Kansas ass.

Eventually duke will be #1, the ACC is so weak, who can beat them? Louisville was going to be one of their toughest road tests and they're depleted.

Meanwhile, UK, UT, FL, Alabama and AU are going to go to war every night.

They are making it very obvious they want duke to be in the top 5, no matter how often they lose.

Duke will be losing plenty of games in the ACC this year. They will not be up here for too long. They have some hard games coming up in the not too far off future.

I guess we'll find out soon enough about Tennessee when the SEC starts. But right now their BIG WIN is over a Baylor team that Gonzaga beat by 38 points.

Feels a little unconvincing to be #1.
So many opposing fans are so ate up with UK. They hate what Pope is doing and they hate the fact that we are winning. I've even seen a UT fan try yo say we aren't as good as we think, because we haven't played anyone yet. Them, I looked at UT's SOS, it's in the mid 200's.

Advanced metrics arent impressed by Marquette.
