We need DJ now and every game, someone saying we don’t after 5 or 6 games just doesn’t know basketball.

We needed scoring and rebounding on top of better on the ball defense. UNC-Wilmington just spread us out, made us play defense for 25 seconds and scored off rebounds too often.
DJ may have helped with the defense, but could he have made enough baskets and rebound to help also?
Cal should probably give their minutes to Reed. He only played 39 minutes tonight. Maybe we can figure out a way to get him to 50. Since all you seem to care about is Reed Reed Reed.
Lot of truth. Wagner also has “IT,” imo. Blew it late in that St. Joseph’s game then dominated the OT. Just glad we didn’t also lose that game or things could be getting really ugly.

We need, him. We should have won without him. He could have possibly been key today but we will never know. Dumb fans thinking we do not need him will just continue to be dumb.
I just don’t think we are good enough top to bottom to afford any roster losses. I think we need everyone
It was a one possession game with 2 minutes left. Of course DJ would have helped.
I thought for most of the game, we struggled to get offense going. He can consistently beat his man off the dribble, which would have helped the offense immensely. He's averaging 13 ponits a game, so I'm confident he would have scored some baskets.
He also would have been able to create for others after getting into the paint. We were missing that tonight. Reed does some of it. We needed more.
Maybe they still beat us. But I think missing your starting point guard is a fairly big deal for most teams. It doesn't excuse the loss. You just can't lose this game. But, I don't think our ceiling has lowered from it. I do worry our seeding takes a hit.
Sure. You are 100% correct.
There's 2 ways to look at this, and both are true.
1. We weren't at full strength. Being a down a starter affects a team. There's a good chance we find a way to win the game at full strength. Don't know it for a fact. But, I think better days are ahead once we're at 100%.
2. There's no world in which you should lose to UNC-Wilmington regardless of DJ's presence. It's a terrible loss. The selection committee probably isn't going to remember DJ was out or that Big Z wasn't cleared, etc.
That early in the year, if we would have had the 7 footers we probably would have got beat worse. Cal would have stuck 2 or 3 in at the same time and completely destroy the spacing
I don’t disagree. But today was more of a lack of toughness from most everyone. Everyone not named Reed was a limp noodle. That’s a failure to prepare.

Could have factored into rotations, I believe with another guard Dillingham and Sheppard wouldn’t have pressed on stupid passes so much this game. He also could have driven when we needed a bucket. Lots of one on one and no ball movement killed us.
It's pretty difficult to decipher what your position actually is from this. It may well be a matter of sarcasm in which case I'm pretty sure I agree with your sentiment.
DJ is a good player but today I don't think it would made a difference DJ did not play alot in the Miami game if not for Reed in the second half we would have got blown off the floor, this team lives or dies by the 3 there is no offensive sets and defense there is none.

One of our top plus minus guys, Thiero, played just 25.
DJ of course would have made a difference today with his ability. Even without a great performance he could’ve helped as we had one bench guard with him out. That bench guard went 1-9 with 4 TOs(some shot attempts might as well have been turnovers) and one of the other guards fouled out inexplicably. Having someone else that averaged 25 PPG last week available…yeah would’ve helped. Still embarrassing loss that falls on everyone on the roster and staff.
We definitely need him to play better. There seems to be a lot suggesting he will at some point but I am not opposed to cutting into his minutes when the situation presents possibly better alternatives. Saying he gives us nothing is just a pretty crappy thing to say about the guy. Not fair and not productive.
Well, I mean, he really doesn’t. Unless it’s a wide open layup or dunk. Doesn’t rebound well either.
The only possible way to defend Edwards getting more minutes than Thiero would be to say he’s more of a perimeter threat. But outside of two games, that’s just not really true. 25.9% means he, like Thiero, shouldn’t be shooting out there very much.
Do you actually think you are helping anything with this? He had a bad game tonight I'll not dispute that but it serves no good purpose to get so carried away and insulting. Do you think he is just not trying? Why insult a guy so egregiously that we really need whether it be in a star capacity or as just a guy who hustles and gives you what he can?
