Antonio Reeves. Unimpressive first day at G-League Elite camp

If he comes back, I hope he starts shooting 3's from just beyond the arc instead of from Triangle park. Have no idea why he hasn't adjusted where he sets up.

Has to be a foregone conclusion at this point that Reeves returns.

Wagner
Reeves
Dillingham
Sheppard

Makes a pretty potent punch at the PG/SG spots, probably the best backcourt in the country.

Edwards and the SDSU kid holding down the SF spot is elite as well.

Our question marks right now hinge solely on Oscar returning.

Best backcourt? Three of these dudes haven’t played college ball and Reeves is mediocre. Wagner and Dilly will likely be low percentage three-point shooters, and Reed might not play much. And what’s your deal with leaving out Thiero? Cal very much sees him as a guard.

Why do you always feel the need to belittle our players. honestly I get the Cal hate but you trash the players constantly.

It's not intentional to leave him out- he should be a solid piece as well.

Reeves is hardly mediocre, that comment makes me question your bias here.

The dude averaged 15 PPG and 40% from 3 in only 27 MPG last year, and led the SEC in 3pt shooting.

I think we can all recognize that Wagner and Dillingham are going to be elite college players, maybe I'm wrong, but I can't think of a current backcourt that I would take over ours (assuming Reeves is coming back).

Nowadays many consider the SF position as part of the "backcourt". Unsure I totally agree, but for arguments sake let's say it is true. Add Edwards/Theiro/SDSU transfer Johnson and our "backcourt" is as good or better than anyone's.

It just depends on if the freshman guards play up to or close to their potential. Both of these guys are the real deal Holyfield. Wagner is an alpha and can take over games. Just have to see if he can do it at the college level. He’s elite all the way around.

I do worry about Dilly’s size, though. He’s just not as solidly built as Wagner. I mean, he doesn’t necessarily need to bulk up a lot. He just needs to add strength.

Reeves can shoot but he cannot defend and his ball handling isn’t great

Better game for Reeves today but still iffy from behind the arc.

We have a nice set. Just wish we had a bit more depth. We KNOW we have crap luck with injuries.

You’re right. I believe Reeves returns and Wagner is a star. The UK backcourt is going to be great

If reeves gets the combine invite the he is gone I think, if he doesn’t I think he is back, today performance made to where he is In the discussion for a invite, he probably doesn’t get one, because a lot of guys have played well the last 2 days at that combine but it’s something to watch

Well, right on queue, it doesn't look like he got the invite.

Well, reeves is back then(hopefully) good news, I don’t get the ones on here acting like he sucks, he has his limitations but Kentucky has to have him next year

You are absolutely right.

Anyone acting like Reeves is mediocre is just incredibly biased towards hating all things Cal/Kentucky right now.

The kid can hoop, and will be a 5th year senior leader.

We absolutely need him.

I didn't see any trashing in that post. He only posted based on what these kids have done, and stated what they haven't done. I get the desperation for UK to be elite, but for the most part it's the coach.

Think about how "has limitations" and "has to have" sounds. It's not good. Once upon a time a kid like Reeves would be a backup.

Just a hypothetical because I don’t think it happens, but if reeves were to stay in the draft, are there even any similar replacements left

Negative 19 +|~ first game. Negative 10 in the second.
Don't confuse these guys with these complicated advanced metrics. Who cares if his team lost and was outscored by 10 when he was in? He had 16 points!

No idea? Here's a hint - the NBA 3 point line is further out.

Frankly, I imagine it will take a few days for the disappointment to wear off.
I imagine so, but I’d think he pretty much knows now. He can be happy having a chance to be a big part of a great team with some great NIL warning to wipe away some tears. He still has a pro future across the water IMO.

Best backcourt in the country??? Come on guys, you know better than that after what we have seen these last few years.

We said it the summer before the Whitney season, then we said it before the 20/21 season when we saw Devin Askew reclass and join BJB, Mintz and Clarke.

Just stop, we don't know if these freshmen are going to be any good at this level and you guys already have it in your minds that they're the best backcourt in the country. Don't do this to yourselves.

I like Reeves, he’s better than what he's done in GL play and I hope he comes back, but Dillingham's small size is a concern to me and so is our lack of guard depth.

Also, we have seen way too many late season injuries to young players who don’t have developed bodies yet. You need to account for this.

I doubt you guys have even looked at the rosters of other teams around the country. I bet you thought our backcourt was better than K-state's last year at this point, probably didn't even consider them, but their backcourt was better. Heck, our backcourt wasn't even top 30.

If I had to guess, I'd say our backcourt is top 25 at the beginning of the season. If the guys stay healthy, they should improve on that, but there is no way a bunch of freshmen are going to come in and dominate 24 and 25 year olds that have been developing in college programs for many years.

Y'all should know better.
