Anthony Davis not looking like himself

I don't know what's going on with AD, but man he's not looking like himself against the Magic tonight. He looks disengaged. Not playing nearly as hard as usual. Just got beat down the floor for a dunk that was straight up lack of effort on his part. Totally unlike him.

Something just seems off. Facial expressions, body language, etc. Lack of hustle. I'm sure he's fine, but it's weird. I've never seen him play like this.

I hope we can expect first quarter critiques for all 81 games.

Oh come on. You won't find a bigger AD fan than me. He's one of the main reasons I have the league pass for chrissakes. It wasn't so much a critique as it was an observation.

I thought something looked off in his first game against GSW. His shot isn't there this season and he doesn't seem as engaged. It's probably just getting used to a new coaching staff, and there are some players out which allows other teams to focus on him.

Right? It's one thing for his game to be off, everyone has off nights. I actually just thought he was having an off night shooting the ball against GSW.

It's strange to see.him get out hustled down the floor. His man just ran down the floor and got fed for a wide open dunk while Davis just jogged behind and watched. Just not like him, that's all.

Okay, trust me, I watch a shit ton of Anthony Davis's basketball games. It might as well be a hobby. Something was off with his hustle and body language in the first half and it struck me as strange. Hoping to see him go berserk here in the 2nd half.

Okay then. I hope we can expect first quarter observations for all 81 games.

Good lord. Would you rather we add a few more pages to the Louisville whores thread? Just making an observation on a random Tuesday night. The Pels look awful and AD just looks off. And as I type this he just made s really nice play. I'm just anxious to see him get that pep back in his step.

Man, they are bad. It sucks. I'm ready to see AD explode in the playoffs. Not gonna happen with this bunch.

I'm going to go ahead and assume the people criticizing the thread aren't even taking the time to watch the game. So, good input.

Watched a few of his games this as well and his play does look alittle diff from last yr. Could be pressure of people saying he could be in top 23 of MVP race. Or his confidence might be off because he has been so set on making some 3 pointers and they are not falling.

Thank you, I agree with all of this. The first game of the season against GSW you could see the idea was going to be feed the beast that is Davis. His first shot of the season was a corner 3, pulled it quick and missed. He hasn't gotten his outside shot going at all so far which is fine, it'll come. His demeanor just looks different than what I'm used to seeing out of him. There's no doubt in my mind he'll snap out of it, but I don't think there's much he can do to save this Pelicsns team. They're just bad.

Pelicans are 0-4 after a 103-94 loss to Orlando. Another tough shooting night for Anthony Davis (3-for-12). He had 14 pts, 9rebs & 5blks.

Well regardless of AD's "issues" NO's sucks and will not be making the playoffs most likely. And there are 82 NBA regular season games, not 81. 41home, 41road. Not being a smartass, just saying so the OP does not miss a game to critique. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: JK OP.

They play 81 games and believe it or not they are just like the rest of us . You ever went to work constipated , headache or other common ailment and just had a bad day ? Well guess what , they do too and don't feel the swellest every single time they play but they play through it none the less . They are not robots , I didn't believe it the first time either but it's true .

I wonder how many people commenting in this thread have actually watched Davis play in a game this year. Davis has had a slow start to put it nicely.

My guess is that the new coach/system will take time to get traction. It certainly doesn't help when 2 of your first 4 are against GSW.

Can't wait until he gets out of NO.

Might as well be a QB going to Cleveland

he should sit out the year. his team might be the worst in league. there is no point to him playing hard/well. dont risk the injury. pack it up...save it for next year after you get aop 3 pick and have some help

There's a growing rumbling around NBA people that KAT will actually be the better player of him and AD and that KAT is a better defender

You never know. Something internal or external could be bothering him. Happens in every sport. They were talking about replacing Tom Brady two games into last season.

Fellas, I'm well aware that there is still 90% of the season remaining and that AD is one of if not the best player in the league. I know how the NBA season works. Anyone who was actually watching that game last night would have made the same observation as I did.

For the people saying how awful New Orleans is as a team, just a few months ago they beat out OKC for the 8th seed in the west. They have a lot of guys hurt right now, and if they get healthy, will likely be a playoff team again.

It is a very, very long season, but there's no question that AD is off, and the Pelicans are an incredible mess. AD's shooting 38%, not rebounding as well as last year, and the Pelicans look like the worst defensive team in basketball history. They gave up 94 points to the Warriors in the 1st 3 quarters, 70 to Portland in the 1st half, 134 to the Warriors, and then 57 in the 1st half to Orlando last night. The Warriors are a juggernaut, so OK, but Portland and Orlando are mediocre at best, possibly very bad.

The weird thing is that AD looked like an absolute monster all preseason. I suspect he's feeling the burden of impossible expectations right now.
