Alright I'll Admit It

We still close out games with horns, which means we’ll all get PTSD in a nip-tuck, half court coin flipper in March.

Then again, this team actually blows the doors off of folks, so it really hasn’t mattered.

Put me in the waiting for the other shoe to drop category, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun so far.

Yeah all things look awesome but he cant help himself but throw darts at the fans ... its all fun n games .. until we blow a SECT title or lose in the EE .. No , I'm not wanting that , I want #9 hanging in the rafters , but its far too early to say this leopard has changed his spots . Biggest difference is there hasn't been any REED SHEPPERD in many a year . That young guy will make a lot of coaches look good .. additionally lot of comparisons to Herro , I think some are valid , picture perfect J , roams on D , takes chances , plays fearless , BUT I like Shep because hes actually smart , Herro was too clueless to realize the moment many times .

In my mind the only thing standing between Cal and another national title this year is stall ball or what Cal calls shortening the game. Last night he started it with 6 minutes left and we took some awful shots that allowed Miami to cut into the lead slightly. It's one thing to do it at Rupp with a 30 point lead, it's a whole other thing to do it in March up 5 with the game on the line. If Cal can avoid stall ball it's going to be hard for any team to beat us. UK has no weaknesses once the bigs return.

Funny thing about this is nothing has really changed. We are watching a skilled set of passers. That’s the difference. At one point last night we were 2 of 10 from three. Guys bunched up. Short passes. No space created. Shots don’t fall. Sound familiar? Then for some weird damn reason, Miami backed off the passing lanes. Our spacing improved and we proved we can knock down open shots. Poor player skills make everyone look bad even the coaches. You can’t teach skills in a few months.

Now we have a few skilled players on offense. THAT is what you see. What you need to be bashing are the prep systems and the player ratings. Those SUCK!!!

I think the only comparison to Herro is the obvious one. They don't seem anything alike to me.

I don't post here much, but I feel the same as OP. The product on the floor this year is exciting, just good basketball all around. Basketball to me is entertainment, and the team is entertaining.

I was skeptical about Coach changing, but it does look like the changes made over the summer are leading to changes on the court. I remember in the summer agreeing with a lot of fans who thought Reed wouldn't get a fair shake because of Cal's tendencies, but the kid has been allowed to show out and be the best player on the team. The coaching staff seems to be killing it. This year actually feels different, for a change!

Just play this way the rest of the year, and I'll take whatever the result is. I'm not a "natty or bust", and this team is not going to lose to St. Peters (nor many teams) if they keep playing this way.

I will also wait to see how the season goes and not just a few games.

I do ask that Cal stay off the court. Please don’t cost us a technical during a crucial part of an important game. Stay off the court. This is not exhibition season.

I’m going let the season continue to play out before going in either direction, but this team has been fun to watch. It feels like Cal has a staff and team that he trusts, and is letting everyone do their thing. It’s night and day what we’ve seen the last three years. Everyone seems relaxed and is having fun compared to everyone seeming super tense. It can be a special year.

Let's be honest, UK has not had the personnel since 2017 (Monk and Fox) to play this way. And even that rendition of UK basketball didn't play completely like this.

I will agree with Cal that so many fans have been asking to play like this for years, but UK has not had the personnel remotely close to doing so.

Cal should have been better at end of game situations and should have stopped taking the air out of the ball on numerous occasions...but UK has not had these types of pieces to play this style. Definitely fun to watch.

Who in the world is comparing Reed to Herro?

It's hard not to like this team. And the new style, with 4 out, makes the game a lot more fun to watch. I hope they don't change the style or approach when the big guys come on the floor. Cal said last night that the style will not change with Bradshaw coming in, so that's a relief.

As for being done or being back with Cal, I've been very frustrated with Calipari and the team in recent seasons. I had not given up, obviously, but I'm glad to see the team playing well. We'll see where it goes from here. Go Cats! :D

I have been very hard on Cal but he's doing an amazing job and kudos for him for that. My two tests will be what he does with the bigs and if he leaves Mitchell at the 5 like he said when Bradshaw plays and if he will revert back to slow down ball in the second half if we have a lead. I think it's very important to keep running what got you the lead instead of playing not to lose.

I'm not "natty or bust"
You don't know how rare this is. I'm the same way. I didn't need to win a natty. I just want good basketball.

It’s even better, EVERYONE can hit the 3.
Shout out Briscoe, Fox, and Hawkins.

There's a difference between not having the personnel to go fast and also refusing to shoot 3s and instead taking 50 contested 21 footers a game.

Hawkins could shoot and hit the 3 at a decent clip IIRC.
