Albany Coach Says Only Thing His Players Know About Lottery is How To Play It

I am glad they are excited, so we will see how they handle the big stage. They are a veteran team, of course.

Kentucky still needs to come out and play hard. These teams understand they'll never play in the stoplight again and the coaches and players view this as a opportunity to showcase some skills.

Cal has always had his teams ready. I think our guys will be ready.

It's good to hear from kids, coaches, and programs that have a somewhat different perspective of college basketball than we do here. Doesn't mean they love the game any less. Heck they may love it more because that's all they play it for. And of course a college education which I'm sure any parent of a college age child knows can be very expensive these days. It's amazing for me to consider a full, 15 hour course load cost around $240 a semester when I was at UK. You can pay that these days for a single text-book.

If things go as they should, playing "in the stoplight" will get them run over. [laughing]

Both Albany and NJIT are projected to be tournament teams. Our Cats need to be focused and ready. These are 2 solid teams.

Gotta be an awesome feeling being a player on one of those teams knowing you get to square off against UK to get the season started. You know you have a solid team, and there's no pressure whatsoever because you are expected to get blown out. Opportunity to come out and see how you stack up against one of the best, as well as play on a national stage. Would be a fun time to be an Albany player... Maybe not as much fun to be an Albany coach having to prepare for UK though. [laughing]

Don't know much about NJIT, but yes, Albany is not your usual cupcake. They are that 150-200 team (that made the tournament the last two years). I want to see Kentucky play more of these schools. No sense playing the 312th ranked school, does absolutely nothing for us except going from a 97% guaranteed win to a 99% guaranteed win. Not worth it.
