Didn't get that corner three from Walter McCarty, er, Almonor last night!

Carr needs to start looking for the 3 again. He didn't seem to consider firing one last night. Always looking for a pass or getting to the paint (where he has been very good). Needs to keep 'em honest!

We ready to have the discussion on why we have our shoot-arounds at a different gym on game day, or no?

Because we can't use Cal as a scapegoat for this anymore. It's clear that Kentucky simply struggles a lot of times shooting the ball at home, in Rupp Arena.. doesn't matter if it's new players, experienced players.. old players or 1AD phenoms.. And if you ask me, it's at least in part because we do a shoot-around 5 hours earlier in an entirely different gym, I believe the Joe Craft center/practice facility (Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I was told last year).

It sure seems counter-productive to me. Why would you not want to practice on something as close to what it will be during the game? You don't see Skiers practice the slalom course on an entirely different mountain or trail.. they practice on the SAME course they will be competing on.

Doing a shoot around and getting into a rhythm here:

So we’re like a 30% three shooting team if you subtract Brea. Other dudes need to lock in for conference play.
Yes, good point. 30.4% without Brea. What will be telling is we can step up and shoot better when every game will be a tougher game. Hopefully, our focus will be sharper and we'll be "locked in" ... as you suggest. GO CATS !!

Didn't Pope do it for the first game? I recall people saying "finally!" Hmm. Was that just a one-time thing?

Wait, really? That would be huge IMO if there's a push to get the UK team back into Rupp for shoot around. I'm sure it's feasible. No reason both teams can't share the court.

Perry shooting 14% from 3, and teams have been leaving wide open. Doesn't make me feel good about his future.
I can only imagine how he feels right now. He knows he's a better shooter than that, but he has to do it in the games !!!!

What that tells me is Brea and Almonar are due to cool off some and come back to the percentage shorter they normally are. Robinson and Kriisa when he returns are due to get hot. History tells you who someone is and normally they stay very similar to that trend.

Idk, the dude can flat shoot the rock. Mental thing IMO. Dude was a sniper in HS. That was one thing it seemed you could count on him, for the next level. Was his shooting. Just a freshman mental block I say. Probably a little rattled.

I've been saying for a while our 3 point shooting might not actually be as good as people expected it to be. You can quote prior year stats for a lot of these guys, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will do the same thing here. We've seen similar things with transfers before (CJ Fredrick).

We shot 32% last night from 3, which isn't great but at least it's above 30. The four games before that were sub 28% I believe. So it's been 50% of the season so far where we've shot pretty poor from 3. At some point "an extended cold streak" starts to become "who the team really is".

I know all attempts count, but one thing about Krissa that might be overlooked by some is the fact that he has probably had to throw up about 4 or 5 desperation threes at the end of the shot clock or end of the half. I don't know the exact number but remember it happening.

Also missed the 3 quick shots in the final minute when trying (with blessing of coach and teammates) to get his 1000th career point while his family was here. Now the half dozen other questionable shots that he has taken is a different story, but that was to be expected with him according to others.
I know he is not shooting anywhere near his career average, but I think he'll get better.

Freshman could be thinking too much and not playing. Let the game slow down for him and he will find his stroke.

Yeah it’s going to take him and Chandler some time. Unfortunately they’ll likely be recruited over every year with more talented guys coming in and this is prob their best chance for PT imo. Think Noah ends up being the best contributor out of those 3.
