Reed Sheppard as the 75th recruit in the class is absolute blasphemy! They missed the mark on that one.

Theiro at 6’8 now? Geez he may be our 4th 7 footer by conference play!
The most interesting thing about BBM was that during player introductions the announcers stated one height for players and the graphics on screen read another
Anyone else notice that?

I thought I saw where he ranked 23 to 33 in the rankings. I never seen one that had him down there. Which service. Or maybe I am thinking of someone else.
Yeah he was around 20-25. If he was from Carolina and was the son of a Carolina or Duke former star bball player and picked either UNC or Duke to attend he would have been a top 10 recruit, easy.

Man some of those listed heights seem a bit far fetched;
Thiero and Edwards at 6’8?
Reeves at 6’6?
The kid from Miss at 6’9 as is Mitchell?
I hope so but I doubt all of those numbers.
As long as they play big; Im good regardless.
LfG!

Why do you doubt the numbers? Have you seen the players up close?

On paper it looks to be the 4th most talented roster in the Cal era. I think this team is gonna be legit!

Interesting that some of the preseason rankings talk about Tennessee's Freddie Dillione as a potential difference maker for the Vols this season. He WAS the 2nd leading score for OTE, after all.. really makes you wonder how much buzz the ACTUAL leading scorer of OTE must be getting for his team..

Also, with Adou being 6-8 (even if that's stretched a bit) and Burks and Tre at 6-9.. we really SHOULDN'T be too exposed under the hoop, if we play some of these guys down low. And aside from Dickinson at Kansas, I bet we don't face too many great-to-elite front courts until SEC play. For instance, the next big game after Kansas is Miami. They have a sub top100 6-10 freshman and a 6-10 sophomore who wasn't really used last year. I have to imagine we'd be fine against the Miami bigs.

None of our big guys are overly physical, which in today's basketball is just fine most of the time. We just can't get pushed around so we don't get our share of offensive rebounds. Thiero is likely to help cause I don't think he will get out worked on the board too often

I think this is where we will really miss Oscar, especially when playing physical teams like Tennessee.

Yeah my hope here is that we can just weather the storm. So often we will be bigger than a team on the measurements.. but it doesn't always stop that smaller center from working us in the paint. The good news though, IA there really shouldn't be any front courts that are markedly bigger/better than our reserves. And also, what is the opposing center going to do when someone like Tre Mitchell is the 5 and is drawing them out to the perimeter.

Going to be very important for Cal to game plan this and not let it be too much of a hindrance. I would hate to lose to a Miami or even worse, a mid major, simply because their front court grabs like 50 points and 30 rebounds on us.

I did. They had a 2” difference for Theiro. So I took the difference and call him 6’7

Probably mirrors a lot of NBA rosters. Refs going to have their hardest time ever with depth like this.

Yeah they are definitely giving Thiero 2 inches. There has been this consistent push to make Thiero taller than he really is. I dont think it really matters that much as far as his ability to play down low.

Ugo, Burks, and Hart won’t see much time. Dillingham and Thiero are 8th and 9th men. As long as Dillingham plays unselfish like he did in the off-season games, he’s going to be great off the bench providing a spark. Thiero needs to play 10-15 mpg at the 4. Would love to see Cal go into a season with a well defined 9 man rotation and stick with it throughout. Won’t hold my breath though.

Before his injury, I thought Onyenso would play 20mpg.
But now his health status I think will determine how much all 3 big men play. And the longer the 2 are out, the more entrenched in minutes Z will become.

Hart and probably Burks will only play final 2 minutes, or maybe if injury or foul trouble. Burks looked closer to 6'8 next to Theiro & Edwards and Reeves.

Theiro will play more than some believe, because of his toughness, his fight, his defense, and his rebounding.

If Hart is better than Sheppard and Dillingham in game action and Burks is better than Edwards in game action, could they play ahead of them?

Funny to make a post getting excited about our 3 seven footers, when it's entirely possible that NONE of them play this season.
