11 and 1 to finish up the calendar year

I predict 9-3. The losses will come because of lack of bigs under the basket.

This team is good no doubt. But KU and Miami both are solid teams that’s gonna give them fits. I think those will be the only two loses going into January.

But I won’t count out the possibility of splitting those games either depending on the availability of UKs bigs.

We'll lose to Kansas and Miami. We'll get the bigs back and start rolling by late December.

I’d take it. I really don’t want to lose to KU, but I can live with it if we play a competitive game; then get another crack with a full roster in March.
Exactly. No shame in losing to #1 early in season without a full roster. Just don't want to get blown out, then play them again in March when it really means something.

They always drop a game they shouldn’t in non conference, unc may be it this year, but 10-2 or 9-3 is pretty realistic

Mitchell will more than hold his own against Dickinson . Those conceding the Kansas game due to lack of size - Really? Dickinson is the only one with the height advantage at 7’2 vs Mitchell’s 6’9 but Mitchell is an experienced player and again will hold his own. Think we will be fine with the lineup we have. Love our guard play and think we can take it right at them. If we knock down shots at a decent clip will more than have a chance at the end.

No clue...guess 10-2.

I will say it seems a lot of folks writing us off vs Kansas.

I know it was only an exhibition, but a significantly undersized Illinois team out rebounded Kansas by 7.

If we push tempo, shoot the ball well and gang rebound we may be able to wear down Kansas bigs. Foul trouble is my concern for big.

Kansas is not particularly deep. In that game, 73% of their shots came from 3 guys. They spread it out vs cupcake. Would like to see Thiero taking it straight to Dickinson's chest. Could get him in some foul trouble early.

Just feel like we are due for one of these CC games...

Kansas s not that good. They are overrated this year. HD couldn't get Michigan out of the Big 10 last year with two first round draft picks. Why does everyone think he can lead Kansas without? He is a good player and will put up good numbers, but he is outdated for modern basketball. We had the same issue with Oscar last two years. Great players, but kill spacing.

I think we are too young to go 12-0, but I think we beat Kansas handily. I know UNCheat isn't that good, but I can't shake the feeling we lose there. Maybe Miami too

I'm surprised at the number that want to just chalk up an L to KU.

Sure they will be favored. Think currently it's about 3-4 points. But it's not really all that insurmountable here lol

I just don't see us losing to Miami in Rupp.

Crowd will be electric- we should have 2 of the bigs back by then (lord willing)- and we'll be on another level.

Kansas, definitely. Doubt we win that one.

Miami is a lot like KU with an elite-level starting lineup, but very little depth. Both teams only have 10-11 scholarship players even. We should match up much better with Miami as their bigs are 6'7 Cleveland and 6'7 Omier (Cleveland is really a wing)

Miami will play in the Baha Mar Tourney before us with games against UGA, then either KSU or Providence. We should know who they are after those two games.

UNC got some good minutes from their bench - Withers Wojcik & Washington - They did have to feed Bacot to put Redford away. If we have some size by then to bother him, I think we can take them. Their defense is still porous.

UNC plays the Atlantis Tourney (at least 2 games against good teams), then Tennessee, Florida St, and UConn in the games before us. That's a tough 6-game stretch.

It all depends on the bigs imo. Either way I like this team and think they will be very good come March.

Wow that's an insane stretch before us.

The wheels might fall off for UNC before they even get to us.

They could lose at least 1, maybe 2 games in Atlantis, and then will probably lose to Tennessee and UCONN. They could be 7-4 going into their game against us and come out of the non-conf with 5 losses going into a weak ACC where there are not a lot of chances for high quality wins.

I could see another 8/9/10 seed for UNC.

Okay.

I hope you're right, but I think the early season element and not having a few weeks to practice with the bigs will cost us in that one.
